but taking that sack would have put the saints out of FG range.

Nah actually a great decision. He knew he had defensive holding when Callaway was practically tackled

Yeah also he threw it up in a 1-on-1 situation to a huge WR

the reason that play got so hectic was b/c AK fricking WHIFFED on his block

Maybe. If he honestly knew the defensive holding was there, then chucking it up is the correct decision. No different than an obvious offsides and a QB ad libs to a deep pass.

ETA: just re-watched that TD. There is no way he knew that was holding was there.

Well he was pretty much following Calloway from the beginning so I'm sure he saw Calloway getting pulled down.
Aybe he took a chance and hoped it was holding.

Or maybe he just reverted back to what he knows and went for it. Thankfully it worked

Watching the replay it wasn’t that bad. 1 on 1 jump ball to Callaway. It looked bad because it looked like a heave but I don’t think there’s any way that gets intercepted

He was watching/looking for Calloway the entire time, even if he didn’t see the hold, it’s very possible that he was trying to throw that out of the end zone and couldn’t get enough on it. Couldn’t step into the throw

Saints fan base: Brees needs to put the ball up and let WRs just win 1-on1s more often.
Winston should not throw those 1-on-1s because it’s too risky

It's the fact that he was getting tackled when he threw it up.

You're telling me jameis knew he was going to get that call?
