It boils down to drew liking who we go after in FA. If he likes a player, he’ll sign for less, if he doesn’t like who we get/we miss on his “wanted” targets, he signs for more.

It’s a genius move on Brees’ part. He’s basicalky saying I’ll give you the freedom to bring in quality players but if you don’t, pay me my money.

There’s a lot of truth in this post.

Perhaps someone who is smarter than I, can explain how we can structure a new contract for Drew after Wed that takes into consideration the cap hit from the voided years. My understanding is this was going to be handled by doing a contract extension that voided the years... but if they just simply void without an extension and we get acclelerated the cap hit this year... that's going to hurt.

Brees’ contract will be filed before the deadline. This is about getting other contracts hammered out and making sure they all fit. Brees will be here. He is the control. The other contracts are the variable.

I’d love if my Vikings could snag him for a Super Bowl run. We’ve got the money to spend and with Brees, we’d be loaded.

I just heard on our local news that the Saints and Brees are close to making a deal.
