2-year deal. Hope he balls. Wish the Saints could’ve kept him. This has Ninkovich written all over it again.

Ninkovich was a 3-4 OLB that didn't fit our scheme. That's more Kikaha.

Stupar fit our scheme, and I know everyone was freaking out with how good he played Thursday, but that was against the third and fourth stringers.

He's a good special teams guy and decent spot starter, but let's not act like Thursday is what he does on the regular.

That's like looking at Elliot's pff grade, or Muhammad leading in sacks last preseason. These guys did work against 90% of guys that aren't on rosters now.

I wish we would have kept him for depth, but we were in nickel 75-80% of snaps last year. It made sense to keep more in the secondary.

Hope he does well also. Glad we have enough talent to make him expendable. Always liked his hustle.

Gillislee?

And Edmunds was cut for LeRibeus iirc.

And yeah Gray is still around. My ONLY guess is he must be some super secret really good FS, because Bell, Coleman, and Banjo all fit the SS mold better.

But not really.

Sad we cut him to keep Gray who will never contribute anything to the team and will be cut within 5 weeks to make room for a player we’re signing or Ingram.

One could argue that he got cut because Ingram got suspended.

Doesn't follow. If Ingram wasn't suspended we'd need a spot for him. So if anything it kept him on the team a day or two longer.

I thought suspensions count against the 53.

Currently Ingram is not counting against the 53. That is standard for suspended players so teams aren't punished for what the player did.

I think it's called the Exempt/Suspended by Commissioner List.

While I wish we would have kept Stupar, he will not be another Ninkovich. He is a 30 year old backup LB who has made his living on special teams.

It sucks but this goes to show the strength of the roster when you have good players getting cut loose. Stupar, much like Elliot wouldn't have much of an impact on Sundays except maybe on special teams. They're backups at a position where the majority of the time we only have two guys on the field.

At this point, I’m almost on board to have kickoffs eliminated, even tho KO TDs used to be my favorites plays to watch.

They are emasculating it anyway with the new KO rules for player safety reasons.

About all it accomplishes anyway now is an excuse for more commercial breaks, endless blocks in the back, half-the-distance-to-the-goal penalties and random injuries.

Plus, it forces teams to keep players who primarily/barely contribute outside of ST while forcing cuts on valuable 4 down contributors. Even worse, guys who do make the roster as 3rd string, that could contribute on drives, they are inactive on game days in favor of one-dimensional ST specialists like JT Gray.

Might as well get rid of the whole KO and place the ball at the 20.

Am I the only one that remembers Stupar getting abused in the run game when he was forced to start against legit NFL players? Gonna miss him for special teams, but this is not a huge loss.

And it could get Jayrone back to the team in the near future.
