He's a first round pick in only his third year. He's not costing us a lot of money and he got better as the year went on last season.

The RB position is one of a very few positions that has historically not required a lot on field experience to gauge talent. So, using the "he's only in his third year" argument doesn't work for me. Whether you're a first rounder or an UFA, your stats and production should determine your value and whether you stay or go.

Ingram has been a bust by any barometer and standard you care to use. If the Saints ever draft a RB in the first round again, the entire front office needs to have a full blown mental evaluation performed.

debateable. the problem isn't as much his production as it is his lack of useage. RB's like him don't historically do well when put on the field for one play and then removed for 3. they need to be fed the ball more consistently in order to wear down defenders and build up steam so to speak.

the saints FO had their hand forced. injury bug to EVERY running back, no sproles yet, and ivory was known to be fragile even then.

I don't mind him, every one of our running backs played horrible last year in regards to run plays. I count this more as year 2 for him

exactly, and it adds to my point that he has been under uses, not underperforming. however, this is why i am unsure if we should've traded up for him, because they don't use him enough to justify what they gave up to acquire his services. i fault the organization, not ingram

he is under used because he underperforms compared to every other running back on the team.

Over the last 2 years:
Ingram
1076 yards on 278 carries
3.87 ypc

Thomas
1035 yards on 215 carries
4.81 ypc

Sproles
847 yards on 135 carries
6.27 ypc

Ivory
591 yards on 119 carries
4.97 ypc

That is a huge drop off with Ingram. Add in sproles and thomas as passing weapons and the gap widens MUCH MUCH further
