Saints are releasing RB Latavius Murray, per source. They asked for a pay reduction yesterday and he refused. Murray is coming off his best season, averaging 4.5 yards per carry and 7.7 yards per catch.

Murray was a solid backup for the Saints the past two seasons but his $2.95M base salary and Tony Jones Jr.'s emergence during camp made the veteran expendable.

Good for him. frick a pay reduction. If you want to move money around or defer money then fine.

He went through camp and preseason thinking the #2 RB job was his.

Watch the Jacksonville game and you can tell he either:

1) Phoned it in
2) Refuses to run low
3) Cant read a fricking screen
4) All the above

We can pay someone else less to run into the back of the oline every play.
He's too spotty and Jones looks like he has the ability to push forward for yards regardless.

frick it. Let's roll with AK and TJ

More than fine with this. Dude looked really good in preseason. And he looks like he fits Sean's system more than Murray ever did.

Jones looked good, but neither he or Washington bring that “power back” type rushing to the field. Either Taysom or Prentice will have to step in and get those hard yards from time to time.

After his preseason performance, I don’t think this is a big loss.

He probably should've swallowed his pride & taken the paycut. It's not going to be pretty for him going forward.

Other NFL teams are going to know that we released him for a reason, & his cap # is decent...not huge. Teams will be able to read between the lines.

RB's lose it all of a sudden, & he's going to have to prove that's not the case with him.

We essentially chose to let JackRabbit walk over him cutting him earlier.

That kind of hurts now.
