Julio Jones as a Falcon had more fumbles than touchdowns when playing the Saints
Now that he is leaving the Falcons this stat just became official. Julio Jones had 3 touchdowns and 4 fumbles in 18 games against the saints. Source: statmuse.com

i can recall in recent years when he was shown saying to Ridley on the sidelines during a game against the Saints " I can't get open"

Lattimore was guarding him I believe.

unfortunately who ever was guarding Ridley had an awful day cause he scored 3 TD's.

but we still won that one. I wanna say it was an overtime victory in ATL.

That’s pretty impressive the saints had some pretty horrific pass def during his tenure. I can’t believe he only scored 3 TDs.

Julio has historically low TD production for a WR as prolific as he is. Desean Jackson and Hopkins are the only other guys over 10K receiving yards but 60 or less receiving TDs. It's a matter of relative youth and getting 10K in 7 seasons for Hopkins though.

It’s mostly because we concentrated on him so much and his teammates were wide open

Julio is one of the more overrated receivers of all time. He is upper 90% ile but I’m not sure he’s had a hall of fame career.

I just have no clue how a guy who is 6'3" and can jump out the gym...and runs a 4.3 40 has the TD totals he has.

848 catches - great 29th all-time
12896 yards - great 20th all-time
60 TDs - average average 88th all-time

He is 1st all-time in receiving yards/game and 8th all-time in yards/touch.

The craziest thing to me is that he has only finished top-10 in receiving TDs one time in his career. In 2012, tied for 7th with Marques Colston and Victor Cruz with 10.

How can a guy with his size and athleticism and a pretty decent QB be such a relative non-factor in the redzone?

I never followed them, but will catch a few of their non-Saints games a year. From the few games I watched, the main reasons he wasn't a redzone monster were he wasn't featured, the balls were forced on the sideline, or he was unavailable.

Atl has always had a number of weapons, and Ryan would often go for the perceived better match-up.

The few times they try to get him the ball, it was a fade or hitting him on the sideline. You are essentially adding an extra defender on these passes and make the degree of difficulty a lot higher

Whether it's injury or fatigue; one of the biggest criticisms of JJ is he's not in the game during key moments.

I think they liked to get the ball to Tony Gonzales in the red zone more than Julio. I'm just guessing though.

Scoring TD’s is mostly about Want and Grit. It’s what separates the good from the greats. A bunch of receivers are good from 20 to 20. Julio might be one of the best of them, but if the game is on the line, I’d pick about 35 receivers in the NFL over Julio. He’s a great player, but he’s not an all time great. We recently had a thread questioning if Cam Jordan is a hall of famer. Most said No. I’m not sure why the consensus is different with Julio. He’s never won anything and despite physical advantages over every corner that covers him, he cannot dig deep and score TD’s when his team needs him the most.
