James Jones released - "we should"

This isn't a guy that will light up the field or anything, but he is a decent possession player that would be an immediate increase in talent at the WR3-4 slots. He has had a solid career, and apparently his 1 year in Oakland didn't work out. I'm curious as to why, but once that's answered he is definitely worth looking into.
Make no mistake, he will not be THE answer to our WR issues, but he could be part of it. I do not trust Colston anymore, and right now Cooks appears to be the only WR we can at the moment. Plus there just aren't many available FAs worth bringing in.
I bet you Jennings is regretting bringing his talents to South Beach now, isn't he.

I agree. I always thought Jones was a good compliment to Driver and Jennings.

Would be happy with bringing Jones in if they decide to go that route.
Was decently productive with a rookie QB in Oakland last year, 70+ catches, 600+ yards, 6 td's.

Would be interested depending on what he thinks he is worth.
He made $3.8M last year. He was due to make $3.4-3.5M this year and got cut by the Raiders of all teams. I'm curious to see what his market will be at 31 yrs old.

Jones looked good b/c he had Rogers throwing to him. We have Drew, so he won't put up near the yardage.

That's the kind of guy I'd like to bring in. Someone who you won't depend on, but a nice, veteran piece to complement all the young guys and Colston.

MMQB this morning said he was having trouble getting separation last season in Oakland.

I'd be estatic if he could replicate his production from last year with us.

Colston
Cooks
Coleman
S.Jones
Morgan
Toon
Tanner
Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Huh ma? Huh? Huh?
Like impatient 3rd graders on a road trip. Some of y'all need to stop panicking about the WR spot. James Jones wouldn't come in here and do a damn thing better than anyone in that second group. Someone in that list not named Colston or Cooks will impress this season. Just watch.

why?
Also, i really don't think bringing in any declining overpaid vets will help us out really. I'm ready for a lot of these young pups to get an opportunity and reps.

Yep. Toon may be an okay guy but i really like the chances for both coleman and jones after a year in system to start blossoming. Funny, everyone road coleman's dick raw 12 months ago. Now he's non existent bc he took a year on the PS to learn and grow... no different than Pierre thomas, lance moore's and all kinds of other udfa's gems for us have done.

frick no baw. We have jones and Saunders who will light it up!!!!!

What the frick are you talking about?
A. MDS is serious
B. I'm not just spewing what CSP said. I really believe we will be fine at WR. We don't need to panic and bring in an aging WR3 that Oakland dumped. It's time to have the young guys we have step up and solidify the WR3 and 4 spot.

never really a fan of the "should we?" threads but this would be a very smart and cost effective pick up

why?
Because he just saw his play time dwindle with the Parker pick. He now has Parker, Stills and Landry ahead of him to start camp. Here he would be the 3rd WR entering camp, so he would have the edge to keep that spot.

There's a big difference between having hope for a group of players and actually having production from them. Yall are putting too much stock on a group of unproven UDFAs (Toon excluded), and Toon has been very slow to develop. As it stands he and Colston are the only two vets at the position (oh wait, Morgan is back...yeah).
We are going into this season with Colston who is not good anymore, Toon who has yet to be and Morgan who is on and off again with this roster followed by UDFAs. How can we rely and trust this? There should be another vet brought in to compete with the UDFAs, and Jones is one who has been productive in this league. If he gets beat out, then that's great; that means one of our UDFAs legitimately won the job. We can rest easily. But is it worth risking a season on all of this hope in the unprovens who were not deemed good enough to be drafted? I say no

meh. he'd be a fool if he though dolphins weren't bringing in young talent from draft. DVP still has to earn his reps. He was never going to be a standout 80 catch guy there.

You are putting too much stock in past productions as a measurement for future success.

Colston who is not good anymore,
dumb statement. Colston is still legit when not having a nagging injury. Cooks 1 Colston 2.

Cause Drew Brees and O line protection with an excellent run game bru. Josh Hill gonna dominate. Ben Watson will pray for us.

eat a penis cake. The quality of our 4th WR is not making or breaking championship teams.
