It's early, but this may be what turns our defense around.

It's still early, but the #Saints have three of our top four 3-4 defensive ends to this point. Glenn Foster, Cameron Jordan, Tyrunn Walker

Our defensive stats so far have been absurd.

I really wish we could play the Chiefs and the Raiders every week.
Well, the Chiefs are actually ok, especially with Smith now.

Sadly we will probably come back to reality on Sunday.

Probably.

But hell, last year our defense never looked "good."
There were times when we looked promising.

And we were never this energetic or good at tackling.

I thought we'd never learn fundamentals.

It's also preseason. It should be no big shock that the crazy amount of blitzes we have been showing is going to create some pressure. No one is scheming for that type of thing right now.

It's kind of funny that taking one defensive lineman off of the field actually makes the defensive line itself better.

It is weird to think about, but it's not as simple as that. They're in different alignments with different responsibilities. Jordan (for example) is playing on the right end as opposed to the left end spot he played his first two years. Not only that, but he's the only starter that actually saw majority of the snaps last year. There's no Ellis wasting a spot on the field. Bunkley is going to earn his contract, and Hicks won't just do spot duty.

Throw in young players like Walker, Foster and Jenkins, and there is plenty of reason for optimism. These guys will make everyone else's job easier.

That's the thing to realize.

Anything better than last year is better. It has to be.

Now, there's expectations built on top of that, but improvement is key here.

They give out some info for free, like in the tweet. Some of the guys on SR have premium accounts and take screen shots of them. If I see it, I'll post it here as well.

Maybe not. Foster is hurt and they have some injured offensive linemen.

Maybe, but consider this: in the first two games, we have shown sound tackling (including tackling right when the receiver catches the ball), good alignment (guys are being caught out of position), and stout run defense. All good signs.

The one real weakness I have seen so far is the hurry up defense, but I expect that to be addressed.

I've been pounding this drum too. And being they didn't mention Hicks, who has been showing good on tape, can only be a plus.

I do think this puts Johnson(who has been less snaps than the others) on the roster bubble. If we only keep 6 lineman he is the odd man out.
