I know we'll have to see practice reports for players, but what about coaches? When is onyametta off suspension? Latest Thomas update?

Both Onyemata and Thomas must miss six games I believe. No clue on coach status.

I gotta think Kevin White or Kenny Stills are going to get called up. We can't keep trotting out receivers that cannot win one on one matchups and expect to win.

My guess is it would be Stills getting the call before White due to prior familiarity with the offensive system.

Yes he was.

There seems to be some confusion between the reserve/PUP list & the active/PUP list. Thomas was placed on the active/PUP list which means he can be activated at anytime. Some are making the mistake believing Thomas is on the reserve/PUP list which would put him out for the first 6 games.

quote:

The Saints reached out to PFT to say that they made a mistake in their original release regarding the Thomas and Kelly moves. Thomas is on the active/PUP list and Kelly is on the active/NFI list, which means no determination has been made for their availability for the first six weeks of the regular season.

What Does The NFL PUP List Mean? Active NFL PUP List Vs. Reserve NFL Pup List

PUP stands for physically unable to perform and allows a player who is injured, either from the previous season or an injury sustained during the offseason, to recover and miss out on mandatory practices.

There are two designations to the PUP list: active and reserve. The distinction is very important, however, as it determines the eligbility of a player to play during the NFL season.

quote:

A player who cannot even make it through one session of their team’s training camp will be placed on the active NFL pup list. This means that the player has suffered an injury before training camp even started, and now he can’t make it to even the first practice.

Players on this list generally have great flexibility when it comes to their return. After being medically cleared, teams can activate a player on the active NFL pup list at any moment, allowing him to practice and play in games once they start.

However, if a player either gets injured during training camp, or is still not medically cleared to return by the start of the preseason, they may land on the reserve NFL pup list. This means that the player can’t practice or participate in games for the first six weeks of the regular season.

There was also an interesting quote by Sean Payton following the Ravens preseason game that got overlooked.

quote:

Thomas, who is recovering from ankle surgery, was on the sideline for Saturday’s Saints-Ravens preseason opener and looks to have reconciled with Payton, who offered an update prior to the game.

"It's good to have him back,” Payton said, via ESPN’s Mike Triplett. “A lot of his rehab has been in Philadelphia with his ankle specialist. He had a recheck last week, he’s ahead of schedule. He’s gonna be a big part of what we do, and hopefully the sooner, the better with his recovery."
