I think Peyton was trying to get the defense out of position by rushing the play in and going quick snap.
Peyton is always super aggressive and sometimes it really bites the team in the arse.

That was a bad play, but the defense gave up several bad plays to allow the avalanche to happen. I blame the d more than the offensive miscues.
