In your opinion, how long has Brees been washed?

I say 3 years. That’s when I noticed he was throwing the ball like a pre-pubescent girl.

2 years is probably the most likely, but wanted to hear more thoughts on this.

Cracks were there in 2018. Bottom fell out in 2019 and 2020. But the Saints wasted his prime years in the mid-2010s with awful defenses.

Second half of 2018 was when reality finally hit. Was in denial prior to that.

3 years at least but you could debate even beforehand he lost his clutch gene long before that. The difference then is physically he could still do it so he could overcome that flaw. Remember in the Vikings hailmary game Drew didn't play good in the 1st half and even threw some INTs but he played great in the second half.

I think Drew lost his killer instinct around 2013 for postseason play but he was still good enough to win you a SB until at least 3 years ago. If Drew had a defense in 2010-2013 you would've got another SB from him. Payton squandered that window.

During the last two years, I found myself holding my breath that the ball would reach the receiver in time without being intercepted.

Honestly I think he was playing well enough to get us to the SB before his rib injury

He had gas in the tank when the refs fricked us vs The Rams

Shoulder just couldn’t keep up after that.

This is the right answer. That Falcons game was when we lost a Super Bowl. Brees threw a pick and got hurt trying to tackle the DB.

He was bad the rest of that year and declining every year since.

His last good playoff game was second half vs the Vikings in 2017.

Back half of 2018 season his struggles with the deeper routes and arm strength were evident.

As somebody posted above, he was set to retire after 2018 but refs fricked us. He should have gone out then!

Injury against Atlanta in 2018.

Saints win it all that if they does not happen. Drew lost 10-15 yards on his passes that night.

I disagree with washed. He was never as bad as manning was his last year. But the drop off definitely happened in 2018

Just a reminder that Brees had statistically one of his best years last year of his career(some total stats don't reflect since he missed so many games).

2nd best completion percentage
best td%
2nd lowest INT%
Best QB rating
7 game winning drives.

That's why I had such high hopes from this year. My biggest concern in the offseason was the defense staying as strong as they were last season.

I for sure thought the addition of Sanders would help give us that badly needed #2 guy. Both stretches when MT was out our passing game was awful. Smith started to show some promise late in the season.

Speaking of MT...where the frick was he last night? For someone who names himself CantGuardMike he didn't do a good job of not being guardable. 4 targets and zero completions.

Something else that just crossed my mind....I don't remember ever cussing Peat out. Either he played well or didn't play at all.
