IF Payton is suspended for one year, does it help the Saints in the long run?

Hear me out. Knowing the # of hours that a good coach puts in on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis does having Sean take off 1 year keep him energized and thus coaching the Saints for years to come??

When you're Payton, Belichick, Tomlin, Reid, etc.... one year isn't going to keep you from being motivated to win, especially when you have stud QB's and a solid team. I will say this however, the suspension is gonna bring him back with a vengeance. Not specifically because it's one year, but everyone has the desire to get back at the guy/people who screwed you.

Coaches work really hard but people act like they have the hardest job in the world. Many people work manual labor for 50 years, living paycheck to paycheck trying to get their kids through school and working budget miracles just to keep food on the table, and get minimal to no retirement benefits, having to work much later in life than they should.

During the season coaches work like 100 hours a week. While the pay more than makes up for at, it's not a cush job by any stretch of the imagination. I think like someone else said a forced break might not be a terrible thing, and you know no matter what happens this season, Payon is going to come back pissed off beyond belief.

Bill Parcells brings a unique mix to the table. He would crank up any fanbase, but in our case- you get visions of crafty defensive schemes being brought in, and an experienced and winning influence from the top down. I get the sense that Spagnolo would really benefit from a year under Bill's direction, while Brees and Carmichael keeps the offense rolling along.
And next year, Payton returns to find his offense intact, and a more solid defense in place. So, yeah, this could really help the Saints throughout the rest of Brees' time here.

The difference btw NFL head coaches and the people you describe is that NFL HC's have the means to stop working.
If those manual laborers had the ability to retire with a nice retirement egg, how many would keep working?
It's not the being a head coach is harder than digging ditches from sunrise to set, it's the temptation/ability to stop whenever they want that's the issue

To be honest if he wins another title after his return then I will say the year off was possibly a great thing.
