Ian Book hits all seven of Bill Parcells’ rules for drafting a QB.
- Be a three-year starter
- Be a senior in college
- Graduate from college
- Start 30 games
- Win 23 games
- Post a 2:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio
- Compete at least 60-percent of passes thrown

I do like that he accomplished all those things but this is a different era

He also beat out an established starter for the job, had unquestioned command of the locker room for 3 years, is athletic enough to make plays with his legs yet still is accurate passing down field, clutch in the 4th quarter and overtime, led his team to 2 playoff appearances in 3 years, and has more wins than any other ND QB all despite only being a 3 star prospect out of high school.

Yeah this was more just to inform people. Doesn’t mean he will be a great NFL QB. He most likely will only play in a blowout or in dire circumstances.
But you never know. Sometimes you strike gold.

Had a pretty good season in 2019. 34TDs 6Int. Little short for my liking. Lord knows those Brees tipped balls were a bitch.

He’s fine. Bridge starter, good backup
However you value that.

The first 5 of those rules signal people who are not good enough to leave college early for the draft. I don't mind taking a flyer in the 4th round, but this guy is not going to be our QB of the future. I would have tried to shore up some other spots.

People melting over this are stupid. Not a bad pick at all in the 4th round.

I like the pick... he wasn’t throwing to elite receivers and he adds a little mobility. Climbs the pocket, has a decent arm and I’ll bet he can read a defense pretty good. Stats indicate he doesn’t cost you games with careless picks. Kinda got a Jimmy G feel...

This board would have imploded if we drafted Russell Wilson or Dak Prescott.
Not saying Book will become like them, but that’s the thing with the draft...you never know.

He can escape the pocket really well.
Tommy rees the young oc at notre dame loves him.
Don't think this kid will ever be a 10 year starter but it's a decent pick.
I would've added another defensive player

Romo 2.0

Yeah I don’t get how he’s ranked lower than Ehlinger, Franks, and Newman tbh

Seems Book has that clutch gene, a gene our team has been overall lacking for a few years now.

I'm fine with the pick. Maybe he pans out, but if he doesn't, it was a 4th round pick. Do we trust our staff or not? I trust them... they've been pretty damn good

I'd rather take a flier on Sam Ehlinger in the 6th round with that criteria

Parcell rule #8 : Must have a girlfriend with a OT 8.5 rating or higher
