after Super Bowl?
Brees needs to retire
I really hope he is not considering staying.
Maybe he wants his fan sendoff.
Do Saints even have enough to resign him at this point.
He would have to take a massive paycut.

or negotiating a mutual release and drew can be a UFA and decide if he wants to play elsewhere on his own terms ala brady.

I'm sure there is little doubt of his decision to retire.

There has to be a reason or plan for announcement by him and the organization. He is the GOAT Saints player so he deserves whatever send off he wants

Drew will retire after the June start of the new calendar year. If he does it before then the Saints will take the full hit this year. In effect, the announcement was made by reducing his salary to the league minimum this year. You will hear nothing before mid June. You will then hear his announcement and consequently NBC will annouce he will call Notre Dame games.

Cuts can be designated as post June 1st no matter when they happen. I imagine it’s the same with this retirement situation.

As far as switching teams, which I don’t believe is what's happening here....where? where is a mutually beneficial place? San Francisco maybe...only place i can think of.

You can announce it and wait to file the papers until June.

I believe he is seriously weighing his options at another year. It has to be hard to go out like he did against Brady. And then seeing Brady win another title and come back to break all your records next year. The Drew we know isn’t gonna throw the towel in without considering it. Still think he retires once he realized his shoulder is done.

Is there a team in the NFL that wants a 42 year old QB who can’t throw the ball deeper than 20 yards? Gotta think the market is slim on that one.

Waiting for post June 1st so the league can't screw the organization saying his money should be counted for this league year and not split over 2.

They said that Brees would announce his decision after the family trip to Hawaii, just like last year.

I believe they returned to New Orleans this past Sunday.

Isn't that the key? The private medical information regarding the mechanical condition of his throwing shoulder - is not THAT the key to the answer to the question?

We all dance around this key, because it is natural to just take it for granted that the entire question turns on that key set of facts - the actual and total medical and mechanical condition of his throwing shoulder.

Mr. Drew Brees is the greatest New Orleans Saint who ever lived by far.

IF he and the Medical Doctors discern that his shoulder can make it through another season, he has the right to decide to play next season.

IF the M.D.s inform him that the shoulder will probably again fail during the season, in my humble opinion, Brees will Retire.

I guess that we are dancing around subtleties - If the docs say, "it might fail it might not", then Brees's decision is very tough. I really hope that the docs can give him a more certain opinion than "it might fail it might not".

In fact, fans right now have no idea what the docs are telling him.

It actually makes sense for him to come back for the 2021 season...as far as the Saints are concerned.

Brees' 2021 cap # - 12.225 mil That is a steal
Brees' 2021 dead money hit after June 1st - 11.15 mil

We would only save a little over 1 mil if he decided to retire. Call me crazy, but I think the numbers favor him playing 1 more year.

Not saying he does come back, but I'll support whatever decision he makes.
