I doubt it. The Eagles are a very good team but they are about to lose a lot of their good players as cap casualties

No, they would have absolutely shredded our defense.

I think Brees, like Brady, would have had some success and our RB tandem would have been a tough match-up for both Philly & NE. Tough pill to swallow, no doubt. Missed opp, but this team should be even better next year.
Add a dynamic DE/OLB that can get after the qb, depth at CB (can never have enough of these guys to cover NE type receivers), and another speedy WR to stretch the field. Can't wait to see what we do this offseason, Who Dat!

That should have been Brees with the Lombardi trophy, not some fricking backup named Foles.

probably right....Falcons and Saints were on par this year and the Falcons were two yards away from sending Philly home in the divisional round.

oh well if ifs and buts were candy and nuts..

It has nothing to do with Jones, you dumb motherfricker, it’s that that game knocked us out of having home field advantage throughout. And that was the play that sealed it. I thought it was pretty obvious and didn’t need to be spelled out so directly. Silly me. Dumb motherfricking cocksucker.

No it didn’t but call names if it makes you feel better.

We went 11-5. We win that and we go 12-4, that still isn’t enough to have home field.

Well, the names were uncalled for I grant you, but so was taking my quote and painting me as some sort of retarded LSU homer. I don’t care if Jones was from Mars, I am talking about the effects—in hindsight—of losing that game. And I am assuming we play much better against Tampa Week 17 with the #1 seed on the line. I just don’t think this team, with all the injuries, could go on the road and beat multiple good teams. Our only hope was the Dome.

I think they need to start off better. That 0-2 start was what did us in IMO. Hopefully they start off better this coming season. I think we can all agree we need homefield. They get homefield they are making the Super Bowl.

Great point. It’s like trying to overcome a huge deficit in basketball. Even if you manage to catch up(like our wining streak), you have to expend so much energy to do so, rarely do you have enough left in the tank to finish with a championship. Can’t get behind the 8-ball again like that.

I think y'all could have beaten them if you were matched up in the first round. They started riding that us vs. the world momentum after the Atlanta game.

I don't think we would have but we certainly had a good shot at it.

Philly was beatable if they were on the road (or neutral site for SB). Playing Philly at home, no one was beating them this year. Just. Nope.

We were at the 2 yard line with a minute to go to take the lead. And that was holding them to 15 at home. Saints were a much more disciplined team than the Birds this year. There was a little talk from the Eagles before the game, but the underdog shut really ramped up after they beat us.

I think the Saints next year at 100% could beat the Eagles. Too many on the IR this season.

Eagles will be stronger next year too. Missed Sproles, Peters, Wentz, and their MLB....and still won the Super Bowl. They have a fantastic team and with Wentz healthy they'll likely be the favorites again.

That said, we get them at home and we could certainly compete with them.

I think we were bound for a loss. Where would you have preferred it happen? NFC Championship or Super Bowl.

Losing in a semifinal the way the Saints did was tough but looking back, I think was kind of a blessing. Gives us the motivation for next year and isn't as soul crushing as losing further along.
