I hope Gruden did not send CSP any emails

These email quotes are behind a NYT paywall so I won't link it:

quote:

“ In the emails, Gruden called the league’s commissioner, Roger Goodell, a “****” and a “clueless anti football pussy” and said that Goodell should not have pressured Jeff Fisher, then the coach of the Rams, to draft “queers,” a reference to Michael Sam, a gay player chosen by the team in 2014.”

quote:

Gruden also criticized President Obama during his re-election campaign in 2012, as well as then-vice president Joe Biden, whom Gruden called a “nervous clueless pussy.” He used similar words to describe Goodell and DeMaurice Smith, the executive director of the N.F.L. Players Association.”

I hope the content of other released emails do not involve CSP.

I could see CSP venting frustration at Roger Goodell in a privileged email to Gruden.

Roger Goodell is a vindictive a-hole and would not hesitate to bring down another personally hated coach.

I hope there is no fallout.

Before they both became Super Bowl-winning head coaches, Jon Gruden and Sean Payton worked alongside as members of the Philadelphia Eagles.

In the mid-to-late 90s, Gruden was emerging as one of the best offensive minds in the league, running the Eagles' offense as the offensive coordinator, with Payton serving as his quarterback's coach.

During their brief tenure together in 1997, the Eagles finished the season with a top-five offense, amassing over 5,000 yards.

quote:

"[Payton and I] had a blast in Philadelphia," Gruden recalled Thursday.

"Ray Rhodes made me hire Sean because I was yelling too much, so Sean came to calm me down.

Brought us a lot of fresh ideas. David Shaw was there as a quality control man.

We used to stay up late at night trying to figure out how to get a first down.

Those were great, growing years for all three of us. I'm fortunate to have bumped into those guys."

Did Sean use to not be short tempered?

Well if you really think about it, Sean is pretty mild mannered. He might look like he is pissed off all the time and doesn’t smile a lot, but he rarely loses his cool too hard like a Gruden, Saban, etc.

Edit: ehhh I’m rethinking my stance a little, but I wont delete what I said.

Yes, just like Bill Parcells.

The tie is to the “redskins”

Only tie I can think of with the Saints and redskins is after Haslett was canned and went to Washington as def coordinator

Quite obvious to see why Snyder caved and agreed to the team name change. Part of his protection in all of this

Can't say I disagree with anything Gruden said. Gruden's a man's man. Everything he said is true. Just shouldn't have said it in email considering his profession.

This is such horseshite.

Hate how the media’s handling this. Gruden’s a goofy dude who likes to joke around. Everything he said and much worse gets said in locker rooms around the country.

It sucks that we can go back into people’s pasts and ruin their careers. Definitely think SP has said/ similar things, just hope he was smart enough not to say anything in writing.

And that is the crux of the issue. What is said carries much less weight than who said it. If the message is wrong, everyone is held to the same standard regardless of race, gender, or profession.

No doubt Goodell is behind all of this. They were investigating Snyder and they brought this to Goodell.

You know his little pencil d!ck arse is not gonna let this go even though it happened ten years ago and he wasn’t an employee of the NFL. So there’s nothing he could do but try and embarrass Gruden now to resign….

Only way Payton could be linked to it is if Gruden CC'd Payton on any e-mails to Bruce Allen.

I believe Gruden sent his e-mails from his personal e-mail account and only reason he got caught up it in all is because Gruden sent e-mails to Allen's professional e-mail account.
