The further we get away from letting Ingram walk the more bewildered I am at the decision. We've replaced him with guys I don't trust yet. I have full faith in Kamara going off for a huge year, but I worry about usage rate going up and wear and tear of the season down the stretch. Replacing a guy with 7 years of the system with all new guys of no real equal value feels like a bigger and bigger gamble heading into what's Drews likely last year or two.

Ingram walked over 500k a year...we didn't let him walk, his agent fricked him.

Murray has proven to be a capable back. I think he'll be a solid #2 who gives defenses a little different look than Kamara

I'm bewildered someone thinks this is what actually happened.

I'm f@cking stunned that anyone is disturbed by the Saints shaking the trees for 4th string rb competition.

4th string rb!

No shite. It's odd to me.

Everyone knows Kamara is a legit #1 that needs a legit partner to get the tough yards & also be a threat in the passing game.

Murray is a guy that can do that, & he's a proven legit #2 RB.

Rodgers - I think he's easily the #3 RB. He's not a lock, but if he hasn't regressed due to age (he's 29)...he has a very good chance imo. He has a high ceiling in this offense as well.

Even if Rodgers doesn't pan out...we still have 3 more decent options.

Dwayne Washington - ST's. Runs hard as a RB. Very effective runner when he gets good blocking.
Devine Ozigbo - no ST's, but looks good as a complete RB.
Kerwynn Williams - Probably doesn't have much of a chance, honestly.

I don't understand why some people are panicking. We should easily have 3...maybe 4 legit RB's.

Well, it's human nature to be more comfortable with the known over the unknown. Did you have the same feeling back when it looked like we were going into the season with Ingram and AP as a 2 headed monster? Probably not, because of the known in what AP can bring to a team. Sometimes the team has to make unfavorable decisions, and sometimes the decisions are out of the teams control.

This was one of those situations where the decision was out of the teams control. They made an offer, Ingram balked, team went another direction, Ingram got a lot less on the market then he thought he would.

I agree with Goat on this one. All the activity at RB has more to do with not having someone behind Kamara and Murray. 2010 is probably haunting CSP when they went into the playoffs with their entire backfield injured. They signed a guy that hadn't carried a football in regular season.

I'm just glad he's not comfortable with having only 2 good backs on the roster.

This is what I am excited to see. His skill set always had me worried when he was in TB & Atl, but he never really turned into a reliable contributor. Now we'll get to see if it's the system or the player.

Hindsight being 20/20, he may have gotten bad advice from his agent. That said, the player, NOT the agent makes the ultimate decision. If Ingram really wanted to be a Saint he'd still be a Saint. While I don't blame any player for trying to maximize his worth due to the very short window to do so (particularly RB's), Ingram overvalued his worth and unfortunately by the time the market told him what it was the Saints had necessarily moved on.

The Saints had already moved on from him, due to his agent's bad advice. Ingram played the last card he could by signing with the Ravens.

I don’t get the obsession with our fans freaking out over RB..

Murray is a legit #2 option. He could start on a lot of teams, we’ll be fine

We didn’t let Ingram walk. He left us.

Murray is a good running back with fewer miles on the treads than Ingram. He’s a former pro bowler and a good compliment to Kamara. He also hasn’t been suspended like Ingram.

Rodgers gives us a legit 3rd RB. Our third guy last year was Dwayne Washington. DW is now likely 4th. If anything, I like our depth better this year with Rodgers better than last year.

I think The market fricked him.

Once the dominoes started to fall it became real obviousnhe wasn’t getting what he was asking for but by that time we’d signed Murray

I'm also of the opinion Murray will be fine but they def need a legit number 3 in this offense just in case one gets hurt.

good thing is in the NFL there is usually a back that is there for the taking.
I'm actually glad they are running through them to get the right guy

Probably a lot of the same fans that said Ingram was overrated, not worth the money he was paid, wasn't a quality starting RB....

You don't have to trust Murray. The coaching staff does. How often has Payton and company disapointed anyone with their offensive moves?
