Interesting take on national radio this morning. They were talking about whether or not Tua should leave for the draft that the injury "may put him in better shape then going top 3-4".

They said that they have two different scouts that say he is "a left handed Drew Brees". "In the right system maybe behind Brees for a year and competing with Bridgewater he could be the next era in N.O."

Would Saints nation be pumped if they got Tua as the heir apparent?

ETA: i am assuming yes because i would sure take him in ATL

I actually really like Justin Herbert. I am still wondering how we've failed to pick a successor over the past 5-7 years.

Tua is a great talent but my concern with him is that he seems to be a bit injury prone. Considering how spoiled we've become with Brees' long-term durability, I don't know that I'd be very excited about us drafting Tua.

Truth...you guys have been blessed there for sure!

to think it was an injury that brought him to NOLA it is kind of ironic.

if he’s available Gayle herself better transform into a pelican and fly to podium to the end the night, but every other team will do the same IF he is available later on. i’d be thrilled but i’m not betting on it

There's no quality player that would sit behind Drew for 5-7 years

Yes! I have only Burrow above Tua at QB. I would certainly take him with our first rounder

If he fell into our laps, ABSOLUTELY. He has a lot of potential, and this is coming from someone that sees a lot of flaws in his game.

I wouldn't really trade up for him though. Too many injury red flags.

I’ll preface with this:
I can tell if someone can get to the pros
I can’t tell if they would be good in the pros

Tua can make the pros
Tua’s release reminds me of Tebow
Therefore I don’t want tua on saints

Because nobody is going to sit for 5-7 years?

Personally, I don’t love Tua. He’s not bad, but I don’t think he’s great either. He has the best OL and best WRs.

I’ll admit, I could be completely wrong on this and he may be great, I just don’t see it.

Add in injury/durability issues and I have major concerns. If he falls that far, it’s likely for a reason.

My only worry about Tua in the first round is he has been extremely injury prone the last two seasons.

Well luckily he would have the best OL here and at minimum MT13, Cook, and AK41 to throw to, which is a top trio of options.

I'm not sold on him either, but there is a lot of potential there, and the end of the first it is worth the risk.

This is my concern as well; however, I also do not think that is an indication that he can't make it at the next level. He was just fortunate with what was around him.

Even with all of the talent around him, he was still hitting his guys in stride. The WRs very rarely had to make major adjustments to get to the ball. He would work his reads (when needed), was decisive, and worked the pocket to throw before running.

I would be pumped if he fell to us, I would be upset if we traded up to get him.

Also to OP, Bridgewater won't be here next season.

If Tua falls, I would absolutely draft him if I’m the Saints. Even if they have to trade a bit for him, it’s worth the risk. He’s talented and high character with the big knock being injury concerns.

To me, those were freak accidents and nothing more. Once upon a time teams thought Brees was injured and washed up.
