Let me preface this by saying I love Brees as a QB and want him to retire as a saint.

But honestly, I think he's a whore. He'll do just about anything for money and/or good publicity.

No, the park is fine. The PR blast surrounding the park is what makes me roll my eyes.

Its not just Drew, it's happens all the time. If things like this are truly coming from the goodness of his heart (or anyone else that does something similar) then why does he need so much credit for it?

Just build the park and be done with it. I hate the "look how great of a person I am" shite that follows.

Exactly. So what's better: he spend that money for a good cause that directly benefits the community, or he pays it in taxes so that it's spent on some NASA cow flatulence or burping study?

So your problem is having an event to officially open the park and publicize it so that people know it exists?

Seriously?

It just amazes me how miserable some people can be. On his 1 day a week off, he takes his family out to spend time in the community and puts up money to open a great park for special needs kids. People will literally bitch about anything.

Again, the park isn't the part I have a problem with. It's the fact that he can't do anything without doing the "I'm such a good person" act.

They easily could have had the same grand opening without Drew Brees being the center piece.

It's not really the park thing itself either. It's just the latest. Every act of kindness from Brees gets blasted in the media so everyone will know how good of a person he is.

Ever thought it's good for him to be at the centerpiece because it drives awareness and donations to whatever cause he's supporting?

His charity has donated over $25 million to various causes.

What an unbelievably idiotic thing to bitch about.

Do you think he can do things on a scale like this and it go unnoticed?

The guy could go eat a hamburger at fat Harry's and it would be on social media

Ok a park that most of us havent heard about got over publicized? Hmmmm
Also thread title sucks. So it was a PR fail but people are mad because he “tried” to get “good guy” PR from it? BTW im glad I got to learn about it here. Drew is such a great person. LOL

Live around New Orleans, work downtown; had no idea this happened until I opened up TD a few minutes ago.

Also, why does it have to be an "act", ever think that he may actually be a good person that cares?

Also, is it his fault that the media and city are obsessed with him (or any other athlete/celebrity)? Is it his fault that so many people put him on such a high pedestal that they have to research anything about him just so they know what he has going on in his life?

Holy shite!! You're an awful human being. I bet you think JJ Watt's $20M raised for hurricane relief is just self-promoting attention- whoring too.

Some people call it attention whore-ing, some people call it marketing.

But maybe some of you don't realize his act of kindness (along with any famous person) can set off a chain reaction for the joes (like us) to go out and help the world too?

Maybe thats the whole part of marketing, to get it out there that even Drew Brees is not above going out and making a difference. Then, his fans can go rah-rah and do it too and instead of nobody doing anything we have a group
