Well good thing we addressed the defense in FA and drafted two defensive players.

The Patriots sure seem to be okay at getting to the superbowl without a even a smidgeon of D.

People seem to forget that our D was bad at times last year, but when we needed the big play (except for the end of the SF game) they made it. Take away 3 of the 5 TO from our offense in that game and were in the NFCCG and beating the Giants easily.

C..

Hicks was a reach IMO..The only pickup that could potentially be pretty solid was Marcell Jones OT from Nebraska..Toon was an ok pickup i guess

You know what guessing does....it makes a "G" out of "U" and "ESS"!

We really didn't need another wideout that badly. Still have a solid group of WR's even with the departure of Meachem to San Diego

I love what we are doing with the offense. Just think about the large targets Drew Brees has now in his arsenal (Colston, Toon, Jimmy Graham). With D Sproles owning the flats, the Saints O is just going to be nasty.

#1 The Saints never draft for immediate need (which would be stupid), especially in the 4th round. #2 Our WR group isn't as strong as you think it is. Outside of Moore and Colston all we have is an inconsistent, older Henderson, and Arington who took 4 years to get off the practice squad.

Sorry to burst your pessimistic bubble, but this is still the same front office that built the team that won that Superbowl. You don't keep having the #1 offense if you don't draft offensive players. We're obviously still focused on fixing the defense considering we got a new and probably better coordinator, went after defensive players in free agency, and drafted a defensive player with our first pick in the draft. I trust the front office's opinion more than yours, so I'll wait and see how the team pans out this and next year.

Good teams draft in a way that they will almost never have a glaring need.

The Patriots

first off, i don't give a rat's fricking arse about the Patriots.... i'm a Saints fan and i only care about whether the Saints get better or not....

2nd, the run they had in the early 2000's, you may want to re-visit their defensive rankings then.... the past 2 times they went to the Super Bowl, they lost.... had they been better on defense, they may have won those two Super Bowls...

Last, I don't want the Saints to just "get to the Super Bowl"... i want them, as i would think any fan would, to win it once they are there.... so the "okay at getting to the Super Bowl" talk is nonsense.... every year, you have a Super Bowl winner, then everyone else.... i don't want the Saints to be part of the everyone else....

if my aunt had nuts, she'd be my uncle..... unfortunately for the Saints, we DID turn it over 5 times and while we still hung in, we lost....

and don't be "that guy" hating on other team because your team didn't have the season you hoped for.... what the Giants accomplished was great.... props to them.... if the Saints had done that, you'd want other team's fans to give them the respect that you feel that they had earned.... you have no idea what would have gone down if we played the Giants.... to say we "easily" beat them is a slap in the face to what they did, and while i think we were the better team, all i can say is any given sunday.... so don't be so smug and fold your arms and pout and say "if this woulda/coulda/shoulda" shite, because you don't know....

Overall i liked the stratagy this year, got three players could make big contributions down the road(Hicks, Toon, Tiller).
Hicks is a model boom or bust
Toon fits the mold of a typical saints reciever, should fit in nice
The way Saints land great olinemen in late rounds he could be next in line if he dont start putting the pounds back on.

i've been here, merlin.... i had to feed the little one, then put her to sleep....

and so you know, i actually love the first 2 picks..... it's the 2nd two picks that i strongly disagree with.... the 7th round could be very good, we'll have to see.... actually, we'll have to see about all of them, but i just question the insistence of the front office selecting small school products, especially when there are better big school prospects still available at the position they are selecting....

What 5th and 6th round picks do you feel would have made the Saints capable of winning a SB?
