In Orleans Parish and Lafayette asking the NFL and the commissioner to act.
quote:

Attorneys in New Orleans and Lafayette want NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to step in and enforce a league rule to right what happened Sunday in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

The lawsuits come after the New Orleans Saints' Super Bowl ambitions were cut short because of what many are blaming on a missed call by the referees that otherwise would have seen the black and gold overcoming the Los Angeles Rams.

"So what can the NFL do about the outcome of the Rams-Saints game? Probably nothing. Bad calls happen. Sometimes, bad calls have bigger consequences than others," New Orleans area attorney Frank J. D'Amico Jr. said in a statement Tuesday.

quote:

Two attorneys for Simon Law Offices in Lafayette also sent a letter Monday to Goodell, calling on him to enforce the NFL's rules. The joint statement from the attorneys says, "At present, a large asterisk sits next to the title NFC champions. Allowing the status quo to stand is a 'black eye' on the history and integrity of the game which you have been entrusted to preserve and protect."

He will likely file in federal court. If he gets before the right judge or panel he can get a temporary restraining order which will cause the NFL to have to respond. It will keep the issue before the public and the media will continue to rail against the league. Instead of enjoying their annual two week dog and pony show the league officials will need to deal with this litigation and continue swaying in the wind.

Of course it will; ultimately be dismissed but at least it will show the Who Dat nation isn't going away.

I was wondering this.

Could the Saints force Goodell to address specifically the rule where he can intervene but he wont?

The loophole here is going to be what the commissioner “deems to be extraordinarily unfair”.

Goodell will just say that blown calls happen in every game due to the speed of the game and the human error element. Nothing extraordinary about that. Case dismissed.

The gambling industry and bettors are looking at action as well. This is not going away.

Exactly. He has to say “sure, our officials made a horrible, game altering blunder, but that’s common.”

Frank D’Amico just released a video saying that the Commissioner is being served today and will be ordered to show up in court Monday...

Not in conference championship games. Quite the opposite.
