For those wanting a WR in the 1st round.
What's your wish list in order of want/talent ?

I'd say :

1. Lamb ( actually think he'll be a better pro than 2.)

2.Jeudy

3. Jefferson

4. Tee Higgins

5. Ruggs (would have him higher but I prefer taller and not crazy about a deep threat guy)

Honorable mention for 1st round

Laviska Shenault- I feel could be a boom or bust pick

Later round guys I like

Chase claypool (Notre Dame)- I feel like he could be a stud in our offense

Kj hamler (Penn State )

*I left out reagor and aiyuk purposely . I don't see them as first round talent but I also don't see them falling to us in the late third.

I like Shenault more than most but his injuries do scare me. Tee Higgins has really grown on me. I’ve seen a lot of catches where he bailed Trevor Lawrence out. He has decent speed to say he’s 6’4

Higgins has grown on me too. I think he could be special. I honestly have him and Jefferson about even. I'd be thrilled to draft any of those top five guys I have listed.

Higgins has also grown on me too. I never understood the people saying he's not a good fit because he is similar to MT. That is obviously working out in our scheme. Getting production from a wide out overrules "taking the top off the D" for me.

I just hope we pull the trigger by at the very least 3rd round. I personally hope we go for a stud in the first. I just don't wanna end up with another late round Trequan Smith type that really never does crap. I want someone that's reliable and can attract some attention off MT13. I know Jared cook does that a bit but I feel like our passing game would be so nasty with one more legit receiver.

I hope they sign manny Sanders as a number 2 , then trade back and draft a receiver in the 2nd

Alot of good receivers will be around in the 2nd
Shenault will be there in the 2nd

I would LOVE E. Sanders. I'll be honest I wasn't that high on him before SF picked him up but he was a beast. I would be totally happy if they went that route.

I never expect the Saints to trade back. It’s just not in their DNA.

I’d be cool with any of these but I think Claypool could be had in the third

If you have 2 versions of MT then someone like Harris can take the top off the D every now and then

Have you watched Ruggs play? He isn't a deep threat guy at all.

Sure, he's fast, but he is also a hell of a blocker and most of his long completions were short passes he turned into massive gains.

Yeah. I thought about that before I posted it. I guess his NFL draft comparison to Ted Ginn made me kinda see him that way. You're right though . He can take a 5 yd slant to the house with that speed. Ruggs could be dangerous with the Saints.

re: For those wanting a WR in the 1st round.
I just want a shifty guy with the ball in his hands. Brees doesn’t need a straight speed guy that can only run 1 or 2 routes. I much rather have a guy that has ridiculous YAC. To me this opens up our offense so much more than a decoy running 9 balls that even though Brees can connect on isn’t what our offense is.

That being said I like Jefferson or a WR like him. He’s got good speed but is a threat to make 8 yard route to a TD. Being opposite Thomas WR2 will get plenty 1on1s and a guy like Jefferson who can catch a ball in the flat and be able to make a move in the open field gives us the best chance to improve the offense.

Wondering if they can get Sanders, and still get Jefferson/Hioggins/etc at 24.....Would definitely immediately create what the offense needs when teams throw their entire defensive backfield at MT....

2nd best wr in the country. I wouldn’t be upset if saints moved up a few spots to get him.

Usually not a big homer for saints to draft LSU players ; but if they can land Jefferson , CEH, or Queen id be very happy.

re: For those wanting a WR in the 1st round.
Just because Alabama used Ruggs a certain way doesn’t mean he’s not good at running deep routes. Brandin Cooks was used mostly on short and intermediate routes at Oregon St. Cooks had a 3-4 year run as one of the better long ball receivers in the NFL before injury. Sometimes college coaches miss the boat and limit themselves.
