I assume we try to sign him but not break the bank and will let him test the market.... how much do you think he will get this offseason

Apple is having the best season for a CB2 in Saints history (and it isn't particularly close).

He will be paid commensurate to this level of performance by whichever team winds up enjoying his considerable services for the next several years.

They like him, and will probably give him a decent offer. I can’t think anyone would break the bank for him.

Personally, I’d be okay moving CJGJ outside and drafting a CB.

But he will see get more than 2 years 12 mil

Fielding Eli Apple is akin to playing Russian roulette with your secondary. Some weeks he locks down his man fairly well. Other weeks he can frequently be found in a full sprint 5 yards behind his receiver who has just caught a 10+ yard pass and is now headed for the end zone.

Ready to spin the barrel, Boris?

I thought they would chose Apple over Bell, but now I pray we keep Bell and get rid of Apple.

Our fans are dumb. He would be the CB1 on half the teams in the NFL

That's not saying much. He seems to find a way to commit a PI at the worst times possible. We need better CBs.

Agreed... I mean who do you replace him with anyway? We already badly need offensive lineman and a WR in the offseason. Now some people are talking about getting rid of our CB2 who wouldn't be easy to replace, and a more than a few people on this board are ready to be done with, not in any particular order... Peat, Armstead, Rankins (because of health concerns), Davenport (same as Rankins), and Kamara...

How we gonna replace all these guys?

You cannot have pro bowlers at every single position. There is some terrible DB play around the league, take a look around.

We have more talent back there than just about anyone in the league. They showed what they can do. It's an up and down, what have you done for me lately position. Trust the process

We a safety that was taken 42nd overall
Another that was taken 61st overall
105th overall

CB taken 11th overall
10th overall
32nd overall
71st overall

The other thing to keep in mind is that game flow from our offense effects the game flow for the other team's offense (and in return, our defense).

It's a symbiotic thing - people ask why the defense was "so much better" when Teddy was our QB and our offense was struggling to score. That wasn't entirely a coincidence. When games are slow and sluggish, all 22 men on the field as well as the coaches calling the plays tend to buy into that.

Payton should run more and play more ball control in order to help our defense.

Apple will be resigned at a Saints favorable contract. He won’t want to leave his OSU buddies
