The only other stadiums that could possibly be considered more historic are Lambeau, Soldier, and Arrowhead.

Lambeau and Soldier Field I'll give you because of the age. But Arrowhead? It's just a bland stadium in a wide open patch of KC. Nothing particularly famous has happened there other than Chiefs' games.

Like you said, the Superdome has hosted numerous big events of all types. Final Fours, Super Bowls, Boxing ("no mas" fight), the Pope, the Republican national conventions, countless concerts. While there may be other cities preferable for big events (NYC, LA, Chicago, Miami) it's hard to say the Dome isn't in the top 5 of "big event" venues. Arguably, only Madison Square Garden, the LA Coliseum and, perhaps, the Rose Bowl are the only venues still currently in use that have hosted more big events.

That NOLA has a terrible, moronic, corrupt and completely self interested mayor is no shock whatsoever. But tearing down the Dome would be mistake. Sure it is probably "outdated" relative to the new stadiums being built. But that also means it is becoming a classic venue. People like nostalgia.

Yes, time to go all in on a new state of the art Fleur De Lis complex with practice field and all attached to it. The only problem is the financing, who or how would it happen?? The Dome is an iconic stadium like the Astrodome in Houston, so, you don't tear it down.

You're right, tearing it down would be a mistake because of it's iconic value, but what do you do with it. Turn it into condos to preserve the historic value. LINK

Terrible idea. As others have said, the dome is in the perfect location. NOLA is the GOAT host city because of the dome’s walking proximity to everything that downtown, the WH district, and the FQ has the offer.

Putting a new stadium in Metairie would be the absolute worst.

I don't know about putting a new stadium in Metarie, but the dome has been around forever, man, and I think people are tired of hearing that excuse about it's in the perfect location and all of that. These newer times call for new stadiums with all of the trimmings and technology that go along with these new stadiums. Also, I think for NO to continue to compete for super bowls they may have to go that route.

But why? Why is this necessary? I go to the Dome to watch football. I don't need fire places and pools and large glass windows to enjoy the game.

Is this really what you want/need to watch the Saints?

Having a major stadium downtown is incredible.

Its the only reason New Orleans is everybody’s preferred spot to host Major sporting events, like the Super Bowl & CFP Playoffs! New Orleans (10 x’s) has hosted more Super Bowls than ANY other NFL City {Miami 11x’s - counting 2020}.

That’s pretty incredible considering how big of an International event the SB is & how small NO is compared to really ANY other NFL team (other than Green Bay obviously)

Would be a great train stop for the line that will run from NOLA to BR. Can't wait!

We would no longer be in a normal Super Bowl rotation if that ever happened. Like someone else said, being downtown, proximity to the quarter and all the hotels and restaurants is what makes it so enjoyable

They are actually in the middle of adding slot of these things you are talking about to the dome.

How is that screwing yourselves? Having a major stadium downtown is incredible.

I'm convinced that most people who start or agree with threads like this have never been to an NFL game in another stadium. If so they would realize there is nothing better than having a stadium within an entertainment district/area with hotels and housing and other amenities, and accessible by good transit.

I know I'm biased but the gameday experience is light years better in downtown stadiums than suburban stadiums. Even though Jerry's World is awesome its still a bit of downer paying $50 bucks for ride out there or $100+ for parking, then only having the options on site.

There is a good reason why the iconic, longest lasting venues are generally urban venues, even more so in baseball and basketball.

Go the New York and Boston route and build on the Northshore.

for real though, the Northshore needs a minor league baseball team. Leave football to Metairie

I would cancel my season tickets if this ever happened. Living uptown and taking the streetcar in for the games makes for a great gameday experience.

There isn’t enough room there. Way too narrow, bordered by train tracks & airline highway

If they ever build a new stadium it will be on the current site of the super dome

Who?

Locals pack the dome and New Orleans is a destination opposing fans circle every year

The NFL raved about the SB when it was here in ‘13

Stadiums in the middle of nowhere suck. Arizona, Miami, Buffalo, Dallas are a few I’ve been to that have nothin to do in surrounding areas

Can not even imagine the traffic for a Saints gameday at that location
