Drew’s Press ConferencePosted by BPTiger

I’ve watched pretty much every one of his post-game pressers and I have never seen him like this. His tone alone is discouraging. We know he is always careful with his words and what he said is more discouraging. Hopefully it is not as bad as he seems to think it will be. After watching I’m inclined to think we’ll be seeing Jameis for the next week or two and hopefully not more.

I agree that Drew was way out of his normal character. Drew is extremely smart and obviously knows his body. I am just hoping it’s not a tear or break somewhere that he may have heard and/or felt. If so then Drew’s demeanor would be indicative of someone realizing that they may be done for the year and if this is his last year then his career as well.

Drew’s body was at 60% going into the game and one decent hit was going to end it. Unfortunately, it happened. They’re going to do whatever to cover this up.

Ernie Pyle you are not lol
I watched a short “pro football doc” periscope addressing injuries. He was a doc with the chargers for 17? and is typically right. He classified brees as a coaches decision and suggested brees could have gone. Considering he played 8 minutes after the hit that seems to jive.
That said, I’m sure pro football doc didn’t watch the pressers. Brees saying it was an accumulation is what worries me. Hopefully doc is right and Sean saw drew hurting, thought we didn’t need him in the 2nd half, pulled him, and drew toed the company line.
Hope that’s it... but we’ll know more soon

He looks tired and defeated. I don’t think it’s the ribs as much as everything together. His shoulder is clearly bothering him and so is his back. He’s 41 and beat up I just think he’s realizing this is the end of the line and the competitor in him really doesn’t want to admit it.

You got all that from a press conference!!?!? Holy doom and gloom Batman!!!
I think Drew is mad and upset at how Payton and the team doctors are trying to call the shots for him. Telling him to take a seat and be careful when he wants to say frick it, and risk everything. JMO.
ETA. Him saying I couldn’t play bc I wouldn’t be effective, and it’s not a pain issue. Those are not his words and he’s pissed about it.

I don’t think so, Drew and Sean have a solid relationship it’s like they are both head coaches out there. Drew’s shoulder was already hurting and the shot to his ribs just was too much. I think he tried to throw and realized he couldn’t do it and told Sean the truth. I don’t think there is any underlying drama with it. Maybe a couple weeks rest will do him good. Winston will be ok once he knocks the rust off and our defense is better than the rankings say.

This is what i thought too. He looks more pissed about being pulled and not happy that the coaches did it.

Sean also stated that this was the first time in 15 years that Brees informed him that he would not be able to contribute or words to that effect. “Cumulative”
The physicality of the season is taking a toll on him. He knows the end is near, might already be here.

Jones was officially hired on Tuesday.
