Drew finishes the year with the highest yards per attempt in the league at 8.09.

We have discussed this before and lots of people argue that is because of how good our running backs have been with YAC. Maybe that has some merit but let's look at completions thrown 20 yards or more in the air.

Ranks in the NFL
1. Brady with 31 on 80 attempts.
1. Wilson with 31 on 88 attempts.
3. Brees with 30 on 62 attempts.

So is Brees the best deep ball thrower in the league? Who do you have?

I think those stats show that Drew didn't force the ball down field and only threw it when it was open/necessary.

He threw at least 20 less deep balls than the other 2 listed but completed basically the same amount.

This is due to the fact that we have a strong running game and a strong defense. He knows that if the deep shot isn't there, he can live to see another play which was not the case in years past.

Is this why?

Because Drew Brees last year hit 31 deep passes on 63 attempts.

2016 31 on 63 attempts
2017 30 on 62 attempts

If anything we are throwing it deep more often relative to a shorter pass this year since we have not thrown the ball as much this year.

Try again.

The issue this year has been the 10-19 yard passes. We have not had enough of those.

That has a lot to do with our playcalling, Snead and zero TE.

Brees gets shirt on here by some, but he hasn’t Brady’s nor Wilson’s defense but one season, and he won it all.
Many of you have no idea what it’s like to root for this team with a D+ quarterback

I remember Dave Wilson being thought of as a viable option...don't tell me I don't know what it's like.

From nicks article. He said that maybe someone with a better eye can test can see some drop off. As a guy with high level eye test I can agree that there is some drop off.

Eye test is the ability to evaluate talent without looking at a stat sheet. Some people have it some don’t.
