It doesn’t look like Mahomes will break either the TD or yardage records. They will still more than likely be the 1 seed in the AFC unless the Raiders can take them down. Mahomes has also put up significantly bigger numbers than Drew in yardage and TDs. Will Drew breaking his own completion %, having the top qb rating for the year(it’s razor thin right now), and having the best record in the NFL by 2 games be enough for Brees?

I feel somewhat out of place on here these days bc I absolutely do not care if he wins an MVP or not

It was enough for Rodgers in ‘11.

I actually think he will. Best player on the best team.

True but Rodgers had the highest qb rating ever for a season at 121+. Brees sits at 115+ right now. Until about 3 weeks ago Drew was at 127. I believe Brees should get it but the past has shown he’s not a popular choice.

People keep saying this as if the two are mutually exclusive. Why not both?

I don't think the NFL wants it's greatest statistical player of all time - a superbowl champion and MVP - to never have won a League MVP. Its not a good look.

Sorry Pat.

Yep. It's actually kind of embarrassing.

I think we’ll get a good idea soon by what the writers are writing. They pretty much write what the NFL says to.

Uh, the media/sportswriters are the ones who vote for MVP. The league itself has no say so on which player a member of the media should vote for. The award is basically a popularity contest. It's not like the Heisman where both the media & a panel place votes.

You don’t think the NFL has any influence? So I guess all the Bountygate articles were not influenced by the NFL? The media writes what the NFL tells it to for the most part.

The Bountygate articles were driven by 3-4 writers. Mostly Adam Schefter & Peter King. The MVP is voted on by 50 different writers. I'm sorry but I'm not buying that the league office can influence that many writers especially since many of then write articles that are constantly criticizing the same people you are implying would influence them to vote against Brees. It's complete nonsense. Even Peter King has been on the Saints bandwagon this year & he is notorious Saints hater.

Didn't Prisco defend the saints too back then?

If you look at the list of voters, it's packed with old guard establishment types like Kirwan, King, Clayton, Mort, etc. The former players are guys like Aikman, Esiason, and Rich Gannon. Its not like Stephen A Smith and Cowherd get an MVP vote.

I like Drew's chances.

That was Florio. Prisco is, was and always will be a disease-infested count.

Yep, it took Florio a minute to come around but he was on a mission to show just how much the Saints were being wronged. Prisco is a bitch arse prick.
