Taysom has taken a lot of heat on here recently. He reminded us last night that he's still a physical freak of nature and a weapon that can give opposing team fits.

I agree with many that Peyton has used him in a sketchy way this year. He seems to be more and more comfortable catching the ball and can certainly help us there. I would like to see him get some carries as a RB. I think Murray has been great for us in the power running game. I personally think that would be a great fit for Taysom as well. I'm not advocating that but he is a tough son-of-a-gun!

I never didn't like Taysom. But I do think he needs to stick to a TE/RB hybrid position over QB.

I feel like that one pass opened a lot of things up for him

Ibe been screaming for him to be able to throw the ball.

He def doesn't see the field well, anyone can see that
It doesn't matter though because the threat of the pass opens up running lanes
It works so much better than a set running play

If he doesn't see anyone open he just takes off one picks up positive yardage
I cant understand why he doesn't let him drop back more

Hes been getting better as the season goes on. He's having trouble handling snaps this year for some reason

It was less about Taysom and more about Payton's playcalling with him. Taysom personally had the fumble against the Packers, and I feel like another bad play that escapes me, but the rest was on Payton. The threat of a pass opens up the run more, and on a pass play he typically is getting man coverage and sometimes without even a safety in the backfield, so even if he doesn't like his receiving options he can typically pull it down and run for a good gain. Win/win

Just curious, has Taysom ever dropped a pass? I don't recall ever seeing a drop or even a bobble during a route, (and that includes past KO returns, too).

Pretty impressive, if true. I've seen experienced WR/TEs & RBs drop/bobble on simple routes, and this dude is supposedly a "QB".

His target-to-catch ratio has got to be outstanding, even if he's had a rare drop.

I think Taysom is much better with the straight runs! He didn't run any RPO's last night

I don't remember any. With him re-emerging last night, Brees has the best compliment of playmakers around him that he's ever had. Yeah he ain't dropping a lot of 50 yd bombs but this group of receiving options can absolutely destroy the the middle of the field!

Trautman is also coming and if the defense continues to improve after adding Kwon, look out!

What’s wrong with his contract??? The man is playing almost every freaking position.... going from group team meetings to other group meetings... he keeps what he did last night up, he is worth every penny!!

Hater!

I blamed Peyton on how Taysom was used. Just to be honest at times it felt forced, but last night was the perfect use of him.

Give him a quick read pass. Run coverage deep and when the defenders have their backs to the line find and lane and run.

Short Yardage or time consuming drives.

I've said this a few times in other threads also. If you're going to run it with him just let him run.

I also don't like him passing often (like the one to Cook worked but was inside toward the defender and behind Cook), but understand you have to once every couple of games to keep that threat real.

But the rpos and option hand offs, stop with it and Payton has. No option shite period.

He has been used correctly the last few games. After the GB debacle (which I put squarely on coach's play calling with him), his use is trending the right way. Chicago and last night was near flawless use.

It's hard to block just because without Brees in, it's literally 10 blockers on 10 defenders. If everyone blocks, then Taysom has a safety to deal with and probably has already gained 5 yards.

Read options are not really effective as completely intermittent plays, especially when run by a player coming off the bench. They take rhythm and timing. That was my main beef.

His shtick doesn't work without him being a passing threat.

There are half a dozen teams with a hybrid just like Hill only Payton has the balls to use them in a unique way.

They should give him a few more opportunities to throw. His passes are pretty tight.
