If he’s not an early leader for this award there are some serious issues. This guy has impacted one side of the ball more than any other coach.

Gm of the year goes to Ireland

Let's just go ahead and call him gm, he saved this group from wasting a hof qb's last few years to possibly contending

Glenn and Nolan I think are the unsung heroes on D. They have their unit's playing at unreal levels.

The entire secondary is comprised of basically 1st and 2nd year players and the LB group while solid isn't really anything close to a bed rock of talent.

IMO the real unsung hero here is Mike Nolan. He might only the LB's coach but I bet he has significant input for the entire defensive unit.

I expect Allen to get some HC love this offseason. If he goes, I would expect Nolan to take on DC duties.

I'm still torn on how much I feel he's doing differently. Our personnel is light years ahead of where it's been the past few years. I don't get the feeling that we're necessarily out-scheming people, I just feel like we're clubbing teams because we're better than them..so far.

Is it crazy that I'm actually worried that we're playing too well on defense, and he's going to get scooped up fro a HC job in the offseason?

Yes. His zone schemes especially with Harris on the field are dog shite.

Yes.

Whoever raided and terminated Payton's good ole boy system deserves a Nobel Peace Prize.

It will take a few years for GM's to forget about his stint as OAK's HC....

I think it’s a blend of having better talent and the players fully buying into his scheme. I think Allen is a solid DC.

I wanted him fired after game 2. Now I want to erect a statue of him.

I think Allen will need more than one great year under his belt before he gets those calls, especially since hes already been in that position before.

I would hope other teams remember Ireland's stint in Miami, mostly because we need him to stay. I feel the Saints would be very competitive on any incoming offers to get him not to leave.

I actually see Nolan as the guy most likely to be offered a higher up position by another team. I'd be surprised if someone didn't offer him a DC job in the future.

Ireland has failed before as a GM. He's great at evaluating talent, but lacks in other departments as a GM. Thankfully we have CSP & Loomis to handle most of the GM duties, so Ireland can solely focus on evaluating talent.

Neilsen & Glenn could only get a promotion if some team offers them a DC job. I doubt that happens any time soon. They're still both pretty young. I assume they'll both be here for a while.

Allen could be offered a head coaching job eventually, but he was pretty damn bad in Oakland. It's going to take more than 1 good year as a DC to get a head coaching gig imo. He's pretty young, so I'd assume it would happen in a few years if our defense keeps this up. Gotta assume that Nolan would be promoted to DC if Allen were to leave.

Good news is that we should be ok for at least a couple more years. It's actually a good thing that Ireland, Allen, & Nolan have failed at other places before.

frick that. He's a brilliant scout. Keep him as a brilliant scout. Do not promote him to the level of his incompetence

Yep. Also, I don't think you can be GM of the year if your job title isn't 'GM.' CSP & Ireland were the ones that got most of this done, but Loomis would be the guy to get the credit by the media.

He's basically our lead scout. Hopefully we can keep it that way. CSP gets credit for the offensive production (like we always have), & I'm sure he had a big say in drafting the offensive players (I assume that CSP & Ireland both draft the offensive guys), but Ireland is the mastermind behind our massive talent upgrade on defense. The amount of legit players that he's brought in over a 3 year period is amazing. It's nice that CSP trusts him, b/c CSP has proven that he isn't the best at evaluating talent on defense.

We only have 2 guys (Jordan & Vaccaro...1st round picks) on the entire defensive roster that were here before Ireland arrived. Think about that. Ireland hasn't even been here for 3 full years yet either.
