Back-to-back weeks and 3 of the last 4 weeks holding opponents under 20 points. If we hold teams under 20, we will win most every game

That, and we are running the ball and clock well.

You could call it a fluke.
But this same exact thing happened last year.

The defense takes time to pull it together.

Yardage good too. Under 300 yds tonight should move them into top 20 in YPG allowed. Steady improvement

Without Lattimore tonight too.

Key was running the ball keeping their offense off the field and then actually getting pressure which led to turnovers

Pass rush helped the secondary. That’s what we need the rest of the year.

The wins look so much more convincing when we keep the other team under 20 points.

I was thinking the same thing. Down to the week almost.

Bucs game was awful

I can forgive Atlanta as that game can always be a shootout potentially

Just under 18 PPG versus the other 3 teams

There was an article where Marcus Williams said that they simplified the defense after the second game.

Pretty sure the SAME EXACT thing was said last year, and it makes you wonder wtf is wrong with Allen starting the year two years in a row with some combobulated scheme and realizing the shite don't work, instead of starting simple and trying to add in layers as we go.

And 7 of those points came off that fumble that put them in a bad spot

Rob Ryan did the same thing, right?
His first year was a basic, aggressive defense, and we were great.
Then, he got cute, installed his own defense, and ruined us.

No no no. Rob's defense was basically taking what players did well and using that. That's why it worked so well year one. He had some complicated stuff but it wasn't near the level of what Allen tries to do with coverage.

Then Sean wanted to run Seattle's Cover 3, and brought in Byrd to be Earl Thomas and told Ryan to run it. It failed miserably and he brought Allen in to run the coverage in 2015, which was EVEN WORSE than 2014, yet Ryan got fired for it.

And we all know how the rest of 2015 AND 2016 went. Allen sucked a big one but hung around because. He still sucks but when he let's the players play (aka simplifying the scheme) they play well.

Then we get into third and long and he gets cute instead of letting the players play.

It was very nice to see our DL get consistent pressure on Alex Smith all night long tonight. Hope that is a sign for things to come.
