I was born in the middle of the Dome Patrol era, so I didn't really remember them other than the highlights I have seen or heard from fans. But our defense since Dennis Allen has been outstanding. Which was better?

Very different time with very different offenses and different rules. We had a fantastic front seven back then that could have stopped the run and punished WRs going over the middle. Our DBs were not as good as the current ones though. Vaughn would have been eaten alive by todays TEs who were mostly blockers back then.

Dome Patrol defense was insanely strong against the run and short passing game which is what most of the NFL was at that time.

I don't know if the Dome Patrol defense would have been as good with today's vertical passing game and RPO sets.

But if you grade them against the offenses of the time, I think the Dome Patrol was better. I mean we had 3 LBs starting in the Pro Bowl.
