Who prefers the current format with 1st rd Thurs, 2-3 Friday, 4-7 Sat vs. Old format 1st and 2nd Saturday, 3-7 on Sunday?

I miss that old format. Those weekends were Epic.

Old format. I understand what they tried to do but the old format to me was way better.

I prefer the new format because it seems like the teams can make better decisions in the later rounds and overall I prefer my team to have a successful draft more than the condensed draft

But if they went back I wouldn’t care. It was certainly more fun the old way.

The old format for sure!
Cook and have some buds over that Saturday. Then Watch the rest Sunday from couch to recoup from eating and drinking too much!

Old format. Had some great times hanging out on Saturdays watching the 1st few rounds.

New format

1. Primetime detailed coverage/analysis/insight first two days in a row, and the 3rd day almost all day like the old format. Best of both worlds.

2. Day 2 and Day 3 are more exciting now because you basically have 24 hours to look over who is left and you get to pick out your gems/steals/wishlist, just like you do on Day 1, wthout everything becoming a blur like the old format did.

Old. By the time it finally happens I’m ready to bro so hard all day bro. Day 1 is such a tease. And Day 3 is spent in my dark, cold living room not answering calls/texts and being called a pussy a lot.

I prefer more than round 1 in day 1. Its spectacle now. NFL makes money off of it. I also wish it wasn't so long after the combine.

I miss the old format.

I’d watch the whole thing on Saturday and skip Sunday.

Now I just watch the first night and skip the rest of it.

New format is much better. The NFL was smart to make it a 3 day event where you make the first round draft picks the feature event. They have almost made it like a festival event and I am sure businesses in the area and the hosting city love it. The first night of the draft probably gets monster ratings as well.

I prefer it stretched out because you get to look into the players more.

After the first round you basically reset and see if anyone "fell" out of the first and discuss who we're likely to take in the second or third.

And then you can chill out Saturday watching the later rounds but not have it take up your entire Sunday like it did when it was rounds 3-7.

Plus I like that it finishes on a Saturday. It gives me an extra day to look into who we're getting and what the other teams in our division did.

Before when it lasted ALL DAY Sunday you really stopped caring about those late round picks and then had work the next day and usually didn't really look into much until the following weekend if you still cared enough.

I know they did it to make more money, but I feel it works better for people who are "diehards" about the draft and really want to see who we're getting and who other teams got.

I can see how people who are more casual about it preferred the old way because they could just watch rounds 1 and 2 Saturday and then maybe check now and then Sunday.

I loved the old format. I would BBQ both days, have beers, listen to the new players on WWL, etc. It was also an easier sell to a significant other, Saturday and Sunday as opposed to Friday to Sunday.

Exactly.

You can tell by some of the comments in this thread which ones are just casual "draft" fans who routinely skip the 2nd half of the draft and/or use the 1st day primarily for the socializing.

Nothing wrong with that, but if you aren't a diehard draftnik, you really have no business commenting on what's the better format for what's essentially the Super Bowl for diehard draftniks.

I always have friends over for the first two nights and we have Super Bowl-ish grub & brews both nights, but the draft is the focus for all, not just background noise underneath hunting or fishing stories. We have our own War Room posters with removable names, categorized by position, usually set to Mayock or Kiper's Big Board, depending on what channel we will watch. We pull off the names and put them on the Round/Pick/Team poster. We have laptops ready to pull up more extensive highlights of the Saints selections. We spend time looking at who's left, in between Saints picks, all the while cracking some cold ones, eating well, and having a few laughs, cheers and groans. The 3rd day we are usually by ourselves, but texting each other who the hell was that 7th round small school prospect with the torn ACL we just drafted.

Friday to Sunday

It's been Thursday-Saturday. And that let's people who are really into the draft have Sunday to really look over things before going back to work Monday.

Most people didn't even care about day 2 of the draft before the format change. The new format let's you actually pay attention to round 1, and rounds 2 and 3 if you aren't getting too hammered with friends Friday night.

You can still frick around and do the Saturday BBQ for rounds 4-7 if you are a more casual fan. Not sure why you'd want to BBQ two days in a row though. Sunday is a good chill day.

Why wouldn’t you want to BBQ two days in a row? Grab some cigars, put something on the grill, turn on the draft, and pour a sip or 5.

Just seems like a lot of work to grill two days in a row, but if you like it that much you can still turn on NFL Network (or espn if you're into sadomasochism).

They still recap the draft all day Sunday, which is another reason I prefer the new format.

i disagree fully

i was a super diehard drafink and this format change literally killed my interest in the draft

this change was made to sell the draft to normies. look at the posts in this thread talking about being able to catch up and keep up. that scaled down pace was created for them, not the people who really followed the pre-draft process and knew most of that shite anyway
