That most of the negative (and by negative, I mean ready to call this season done after one game) come from posters with an LSU icon next to their name?

Just an observation I've made...

Probably the same ones that thought LSU's season was over when Mettenberger was knocked out for a series

I have bookmarked about 5 or 6 threads from yesterday and today.

I will be bumping them once the season's end is near.

diehard fans are eternal optimists, bandwagoners and people who don't understand the sport are eternal pessimists

the realists can observe objectively that while the Saints require improvement, no drastic changes need to be made... this is a playoff caliber team that will most likely sweep its division and earn a trip to the playoffs

Exactly. If this is the worst game the Saints play this season, it'll be a Black & Gold Super Bowl!

I have been a Saints fan long before I was an LSU fan.

I have not changed my logo here since 2004 and there was NO Saints logo to choose at the time. coincidence is that this is an LSU run site.

Are you one of these super-negative posters? If not, then you're not one of the posters I'm talking about.

I think this is one of the worst defenses I have seen in my 30 or so years of being a Saints fan.

Do I think the Offense will turn it around? Yes. I think this team will win a lot of games but not as many as it should and suffer because of the defense. Right now I think the Saints win 1 playoff game in the first week then go home.

Do I blame the new DC? No.. The defense is just completely void of talent.

Wow, you are one of the ones I was talking about.

I chalk this up to a masterful plan by Mike Shanahan to not reveal anything during the preseason of how they would use RG III, so there wasn't much film for the defense to prepare with. Now the rest of the League saw how RG III was used, and you can expect his production to decrease as more game film becomes available. He's still going to be a great player, but he will not put up numbers like these at the end of the season.

This defense has plenty of talent, and they will rebound and finish the season in the top half of the defensive rankings.

What did RGIII do at all? Any QB would have lit us up. He was throwing to guys that were wide the frick open and had all day to do so. I dont get what a CB being completely inable to get off a block has to do with anything RGIII has done. He had one or two scrambles the whole time.

THIS. It's hard to keep the emotion out of things. Everything gets magnified.

You can't judge a teams entire season based off of the season opener, I don't think the cowboys are superbowl champs because they beat the giants. This thought process is moronic. I would agree with the thought of the 1st game being an eye opener for the entire Saints organization, from the top to the bottom. I look to see corrections on all aspects of play. Oh yea, don't for get we almost come back & won that fricking game. We are a second half team, we thrive on adversity in the 4th quarter. Given the motivation we get shite done.
