With legal drama engulfing New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson and the NFL keeping close tabs on a potential ownership change, there is a "steadily increasing possibility" that head coach Sean Payton and some front-office executives will depart the franchise in the offseason, a league source told Yahoo Sports.

If Renee Benson gets a court to overturn the decision that her father is competent to run his affairs, it would put her in position to gain control of both pro sports teams in the future, a second source familiar with the legal case told Yahoo Sports. And if the forced asset swap fails, Tom Benson's estranged family would still retain the majority of stock in the Saints (albeit non-voting shares). That potential mess has created a cloud that could impact the future moves of Payton and others.
"If [Renee Benson] gets control of the team, a lot of people [in the franchise] are worried that she could fire everyone who has been loyal to Tom," the league source said. "They're waiting to see what happens."
One of those people, the league source said, is Payton, who is loyal to Tom Benson.
"Sean has some outs in his deal," the source said. "If there is an ownership change, he has an out. He has some other outs, too. There would be a lot of interest in him – maybe four or five other teams would be interested. … I don't think he's thinking about it right now. He's not pursuing anything. I think he wants to see what happens like everyone else. But considering everything, if I put a percentage on whether he'd be the Saints coach next year, I'd say [it's] 50-50."

I'd say it's more like 5%

I'd be all for a complete Coaching overhaul.
Hopefully we get something for SP.
And I want Brees to retire a Saint.

Payton and Drew are getting shipped to Miami in the offseason. Saints get Tannehill, Landry, and cash in return. Next playoff appearance is 2023.

Chance growing?
Don't see the growing part. Tom is doing well so far. Did something change to increase Renee's growing chances?
And why on earth would those league sources think her 1st move would be to fire the most popular and successful coach in Saints history?

If a Benson kid comes in and guts the franchise for personal bullshite reasons, this city will literally tear that person apart.

She wouldnt. They would quit. Drew, SP, ML all are so firmly team Gayle that it aint even a question.

That's not happening.
Another report saying what we already know

That she's pretty powerless.
The trust stocks that he moved out wouldn't give her control of the team anyways

so they get the non-voting stock and then they say she'll turn around and fire everyone? seems contradicting.

The fire everyone part is if she gets Benson ruled incompetent, which has very little chance.
Basically they still get the free ride but have no say (unless Benson is ruled incompetent).

Rita thinks with her (rather angry) vagina.

Another slow Saints news day I see

It's probably time in this day and age of the NFL.
Payton and Brees had a nice run together. The marriage of those two on offense won a Super Bowl. Brees became the player under Payton and thrived, would have struggled at Miami in a restricted offense like Saban would have run. Payton got the most out of Brees and without Brees Payton may not have seen much success with Saints. Once Brees got his contract though, which he earned, it impacted the rest of the roster. Mistakes were glaring in talent evaluation where you couldn't afford mistakes. Seattle is on the same slope now with Wilson deal, watch Carroll start to struggle.

This is click bait speculation, designed to keep the NFL news cycle churning.

Sean Payton is not the only great coach out there.

The bigger question is how the estate taxes will be paid when Mr. Benson passes.
Gaining control and keeping control are two different things.

The trusts were set up to reduce the estate tax.
