Source: Saints WR Cameron Meredith has agreed to a pay cut, reducing his base salary from $3.4M to $1.3M for 2019. His cap number reduces to $4.15M, creating space for New Orleans. A knee issue limited him to 6 games last season.

Per Field Yates

Sweet. Clears about 2.1 mil this year. At least we know he's going to be on the team now.

There are still some other moves we can make to create some cap space.

It was either take a pay cut or get cut.

Well since we paid him to do absolutely nothing last year, it seems fair

I think Cook & the Saints have already inked a deal. Probably making room for Quinn, or just making room b/c they can.

Hey he caught a td against the falcons

I’m pumped about this. He obviously wasn’t healthy last year, but I want to give him another shot because he could be our #2

No I completely agree and hope he's serviceable next season but in general he made a lot of money to not be a contributor

He had 66 catches in 2016 when he was healthy. Could be poised, in our OFF, for a big year. Glad we kept him at a good price.

So instead of cutting him for cap space we keep him and he takes less money.

Damn the FO is killing this offseason.

Hopefully that knee is 100% healthy. A healthy Meredith would be a huge shot to this WR core!

Meredith will be a very good 5/6 option for us this year.

This makes sense. The Saints didn’t want to give up on Meredith’s potential, but he was due a pretty big number in salary and bonuses. Still has a chance to emerge as their top slot receiver after they didn’t sign one of the top free agents.

Meredith can play slot?

I always thought he was an outside guy.

I think he can be a player for us and glad we kept him around. I think has the biggest potential being here for a year already over a rookie coming in. I just think by all accounts he was never going to be 100% last year.

When you think about it, we really got not much of anything from Ginn or him last year and we'll have both of them back fully healthy. That's not even considering Dez which who knows what you'll get after the injury.

I know the Saints said they wanted him back and he said that we would love to be back. Is it just assumed he is going to sign with us this season?
