So you're saying this current team, plus a top 5 NFL QB (and yes, Drew Brees in 2019 was a top 5 NFL QB), has no shot at winning the Superbowl next year, correct? And you would rather give up on this coming season so that maybe in the future we can find someone to replace his production and maybe have another shot at it then?

Figured he would come back.

I hope we can run the ball with more consistency this coming up year to take some of the onus off him.

You’re staring at letting key starters walk because of no cap room, no QB replacement and no ability to supplement the team around the new QB due to the no cap space. That spells 5-11 or 4-12.

That’s all on CSP. A) Will he give the carries to the right RB and B) will he stick to it if they’re all not 10+ yds.

Spoiler alert—he won’t.

Waste of a year. The window to win a title is closed.

Wish he would have retired so we could move on

Care to elaborate? I'm having a hard time figuring out how any team keeping a top 5 QB on their roster makes them worse.

I’m telling you the noodle arm I saw on Brees the last 2-3 games of the season will not win you jack squat this year. That isn’t a top 5 QB.

The offense has absolutely nobody to throw the ball to besides Michael Thomas. Kamara looked soft last year.

The pass defense doubles as Swiss cheese on a shite sandwich when it’s go time.

But yeah. Whatever. Prolong the inevitable. 13-3 and out the first round speaks volumes.

Posted ratings of 148.9, 118.2, and 123.3 the last 3 games of the regular season. Keep ignoring facts though because your feelings tell you he still isn't elite.

I agree with all of these points but they can be improved on this off season. Bottom line is he is still a top 5 QB and will be a top 5 QB again next year. If everyone else around him can perform better and a few roster holes can be filled out this team will absolutely be in the hunt for a SB next year. You don't throw that chance away because your feelings are hurt that he didn't throw for 500 and 5 TDs against a solid Vikings defense while his O line made him run for his life all game.

What was his rating during the Vikings game? You know the one that actually mattered

90.4. Better than Mahomes' rating in the SB. Completed 78% of his passes too while running for his life all game. Pretty solid outing, albeit not his typical all-time great sort of showings that we're used to given that he only had 1 TD.

Our team needs to play the way they did with Teddy in there... That means CSP needs to run the damn ball way more.

But he won't. Passing 40+ a game when Murray was bruising defenses shows he's still stubborn. We need a WR and OL don't care which is first.

Teddy will likely earn a $30M/yr contract
Much rather Brees for another year or two rather than dropping 30M a year for 3-4 years on T2G's

Our shite guards had more to do with Brees' game against the Vikings then Brees.

You’re laughing but who went 13-3 and got embarrassed in the first round? New Orleans.
So there are 31 teams in the NFL right now who need to let their QB go, time to move on based on your logic.

Yep, that's why I'm laughing.

I'm really confused on what he thought he saw the last part of the season with brees. Drew was outstanding last year. Making rash decisions on a 1-game sample is perhaps the dumbest thing you can do. Thank God, our coaches and FO aren't as dumb as some of posters on this board. If drew let it be known he'd play for another team, he'd be snatched up in a heart beat. It would probably be a good lesson for the idiots here seeing drew do it for another team while taysom played much, much worse

Better chance? Has nothing to do with it. The Saints have failed to this point to prepare for life post Brees. They should have prioritized drafting a QB by this point or do it this year. Prolonging the dead money drop isn’t going to make your team more competitive for life after Brees if the QB play is going to be average or slightly above. Rather bite the bullet now on dead cap and locate a replacement than go 2 and BBQ again with still no plan and dead money floating around. If you lose Hill or he isn’t the answer, this looks even worse.

Your post was one of the better summations I have ever read around here. Its a perfect way to summarize the lame arse lazy weak minded troll post we get around here so often.

Well done sir.

Doesnt mean shite in the playoffs.

Who was the worse QB on the field in our playoff game?

Hint: It wasn't Cousins.

Not that Drew hasn't already, but if he wants to make one more run at this, they need to make his contract team friendly.

Just set him up 4 years / 7m per year and let him collect down the road.

Brees was off against the Vikings. Andrus Peat and our timeout usage was even worse. Andrus Peat played as poor a game as I’ve ever seen an interior offensive lineman play. Our best stretch of offense came when he had to come out due to injury.

We also score a TD on the last drive and when in regulation if we don’t literally waste a TO/40 seconds of game time by not understanding how the two minute warning works. Plus Kamara’s false start on the spike.
