in a text message to ESPN.

"I love and respect my teammates, and I stand right there with them in regard to fighting for racial equality and justice," Brees said. "I also stand with my grandfathers, who risked their lives for this country, and countless other military men and women who do it on a daily basis."

"I believe we should all stand for the national anthem and respect our country and all those who sacrificed so much for our freedoms. That includes all those who marched for women's suffrage in the 1920s and all those who marched in the civil rights movements and continue to march for racial equality. All of us ... EVERYONE ... represent that flag. Same way I respect all the citizens of our country ... no matter their race, color, religion.

"And I would ask anyone who has a problem with what I said to look at the way I live my life. Do I come across as someone who is not doing my absolute best to make this world a better place, to bring justice and equality to others, and hope & opportunity to those who don't have it? That's what I meant by actions speak louder than words. ... My ACTIONS speak for themselves."

It’s more than enough to satisfy true saints fans. That’s all he should really care about at this point.

I said this in another thread:

Drew will do what is in the best interest for the team.

He will say he doesn't want to be a distraction to the team.

He will stand by his comments.

If the team wants him to leave, he will depart gracefully and wish them luck on a Superbowl run.

He will take the moral high ground and not try to throw anyone under the bus.

Additional remark:

If Brees retires, it would be nice to accumulate draft picks by trading his big three dissenters.

Might as well blow it up.

The fans are going to be disgruntled with those players anyway.

They obviously don't care how he lives his life. Everything has been reduced to one sliver of time: The 1 minute per Sunday he doesnt think protest should be made.

But the BLM mindset demands absolute compliance.

That’s the response he gave to Triplett after all this started. So that statement has been there since 12:30 Wednesday afternoon. People just chose to ignore it, like they chose to ignore 90% of his original statement.

Love his repeated use of “I stand”

Me too brother! At some point (hopefully) the angry mob will realize the flag does not represent the police. It represents every one of us, and it is a symbol that people literally died to protect (look it up).

I love that brees is not backing down. You can support equal justice while also support standing for the flag. These are not mutually exclusive regardless of how much Queen James cries that they are

We dont deserve him and it disgusts me that this team will get handed over to players who dont deserve it

Cam with a Cal degree and Drew's number in his phone resorts to twitter before calling a guy face to face that has been a stand up individual to you for almost 10 years

Combined with iditotic responses from Mike Thomas, Kamara, Malcome Jenkins, etc

And the belittling of a mature response like Davenport. The you arent black enough shut up uncle tom response he got for saying we dont have to agree entirely applied with basic logic of the person the quote came from...

I know crazy

Not their fault. We have Louisiana Citizens rioting saying Frick Drew...

Wow

We can get a protest to turn on Drew but not Latoya, JBE, or half the people actually oppressing Louisiana

Attack the guy who has more than given his share

If this team doesn't support Drew Brees and and they feeds him to the mob mentality anyone with any shred of common sense would be idiots to continue to support the Saints organization.
