Brady's Arm > Brees Arm
Posted by boudinman on 1/18/21 at 5:19 am394
They are nearly the same age but ones arm is done and isn't fit to throw past 20 yards. The Bucs defense knew what we all knew, Brees couldnt throw deep anymore.
Now facing a huge cap deficit. The Saints are in rebuilding mode and may lose a couple of their best admins to other teams.

One had a catastrophic shoulder injury and the other one didn't.

His arm wasn't suppose to last as long as it did.

Not to mention a broken thumb and ribs late in the career. Don't think Brady ever had a serious upper body injury in his NFL career.

This is a false narrative. Go back and look at the bomb to Sanders vs. KC

That goes against the lazy as hell "he's got a noodle arm" narrative everyone keeps running with. He looked like he had plenty of zip on the ball when he overthrew a couple yesterday.
I think our downfield struggles have much more to do with having crappy pass blocking. It never looked like we had much time at all in the pocket all season long.

And look at the windup he took to make the throw. He had a great career. Athletes cant beat father time.

Had me wondering too. Neither were ever cannon armed guys but Brady's arm strength has not dropped off nearly as significantly as Drews.
As another in this thread pointed out - the major arm surgery Brees had earlier in his career was likely the main reason in the difference.
But his inability to throw deep much, much, much moreso that Tom's ability to throw farther played a major role in the game. Tampa was able to fill the box to jam the run and jam our receivers and bring extra guys on pass rush because of Drew's limitations.
Still, I would say Cook does not let that ball get punched out we probably win despite all that. Saints were heading in to go up two scores and would have changed the whole dynamic of the game and how it was played from then on.

Well, it's one of the biggest reasons he's not still playing for NE. Go back and watch Brady last season. He looked as bad or worse than Brees this year.
It didn't look like it yesterday, but I was convinced Brady was done after watching him last season. I guess the lack of receivers really does make a QB exponentially worse. Belichick is convinced you don't need receivers to win. And he's wrong.

If the Saints don't navigate this off season incredibly well and make all the right moves then they are on a trajectory back into the pre-2005 days for sure.

Tb12 trainer been linked to ped’s
One of the reasons Brady started to question pats when they forbid him in clubhouse
Edelman was suspended and link to Guerrero

Brady didn't have any receivers last year
The arm strength was still there

Brady had a stronger arm to begin with and is on dope.
Monday night after Thanksgiving in 2009. Against Brady, Drew was zipping it. At that time he had receivers that could really stretch the field in Henderson and Meacham deep and Colston could sneak and get one. His intermediate and short game was Reggie and Pierre.
I really don't see field stretchers. Thomas is a possession receiver who took this year off. E Sanders has speed but is short.

Brady was 18/33 for 199 yards, let’s not act like he was impressive yesterday

I think terrific would be a stretch. I would never have considered him in Top 5 in that regard at any time in his career, and probably not even the top-10. Not sure what other QB's your are using relatively to say a terrific arm. Good arm yes
