Is everyone really that down on the idea?
I would take him. At least he has experience being a top option and isn't old. We have 1 good WR and a bunch of nobodies right now, plus decrepit Marshall. I would take Benjamin in a heartbeat. He's never had a QB, he had Cam who can't hit the broad side of a barn with a pass and all those Bills QBs.

I would not mind picking him up and working with him on a transition to TE in the offseason.

on paper it seems like a good fit because of our needs....but he's dumb and lazy, two things that would make it tough to be effective in our offense
