Better to sign Suh or Bennie Logan factoring in cap

I want Suh, but can’t help but wonder if we would be better off as a team with that next tier of DT, save a few million and use that on a WR

Suh and Bennie Logan are multiple tiers apart. Logan is a run stuffing 2 down lineman who played poorly in a one gap scheme in PHI. I don't see him as a target or alternative to Suh.

Suh is dominant, Logan is solid. Suh is the type of player that makes your entire defense better. I'd rather that than a solid player and another who probably is just going to be average on your team. Brees can't throw past the line of scrimmage hardly these days anyway. If he throws a 30-40 yard pass he has to throw it like a javelin.
Probably why Saints don't seem to be targeting too many WRs. Checkdown Brees has all he needs in K and Ingram. If anything, they probably want more TEs for the shorter passes. I think they want more west coast type offense with maybe taking that 1-2 shots deep a game then executing.

Brees also managed to break the record again without sacrificing the big play in the New Orleans offense. With two more long completions on Sunday, Brees finished with five completions where the ball traveled more than 40 yards in the air after posting just one such play last season, and he completed 30 passes that traveled 20 or yards or more in the air. That's only one fewer than he completed in 2016, and Brees attempted 137 fewer passes in 2017.

I'm joking. Obviously he can toss it 40+ yards but you can't deny his arm decline is showing. Granted, he never had a great arm but it's showing more now. If he throws off his back foot you have to pray he can even get it back to LOS. They obviously want to be a more run oriented team that throws underneath until a team cheats up then take their shots deep. He's not going to sit in the shotgun and throw 50+ times a game anymore. Doesn't seem they want that type of offense. I wouldn't be surprised if they do go and get WRs but possession guys who can't fly past the defense similar to Thomas. They had many times last season where Ginn was wide open and Brees javelin throws couldn't even reach him. Also a bit deceptive on 20+ yard passes when you throw a 1 yard pass and it turns into a 70 yard TD run.

which WR? The bit money ones are gone, and we wouldn't be overpaying for them anyway. For Suh we would be restructuring contracts (I believe) to make happen.
I'm fully on the fence with signing Suh. I love his talent but am concerned he's a me first player. Hearing his dolphins teammates deny this image of him has changed my mind some. My main concern is the money at this point, but I do have some reservations about his attitude as well (regarding his being selfish or not... I love the mean streak)

I shouldn’t have made it so specific but just generally that next tier down...

There are no guys a tier or two down from Suh. Those guys are gone. The only players available now are at least 3-4 tiers down. The difference in talent and fit from Suh compared to Hankins/Logan is tremendous.

Suh can also kick. Could probably replace Morestead too.

You just have to look at it objectively. Is Logan that much better than Onyemata or Davidson? I don't think he is

tbh, i'd roll with what we have... add Nathan Shepherd in the draft, and i'd feel real confident with those interior lineman on the DL....
only thing is Davison is a FA next year, so drafting a guy this year would go a long way in terms of hedging for his loss...
