The Chicago Bears are expected to move on from head coach John Fox after Sunday's Week 17 against the Minnesota Vikings and an early candidate for the job has emerged.

According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael is expected to be a head-coaching candidate for Chicago this offseason.

Maybe I'm wrong, I probably am, but Carmichael doesn't come across as head coach material.

ETA: He'll get the job, and win 5 straight SBs

I doubt theyd hire him. He has been an OC this long and has never gotten a HC job for a reason. Not to mention the year he was our interim for a few games, he was terrible with clock management. Too beta to be a headcoach IMO

Ryan Pace the GM of the Bears knows him well. If his name is being floated around then you have to assume their interest in him is legit

He definitely doesn't look like a head coach, leader of men type. Sort of like Dennis Allen .

I don't think this ends well for him

I hope Carmichael gets the job. He's been great for the Saints and would be able to come in and really put together a nice offense in Chicago. Only time will tell if he's got what it takes, but he deserves the chance.

I know him personally, and guy LOVES NOLA and so does his wife and kids. But if I’m not mistaken, his oldest son plays or is involved with the Illinois baseball team so where there is smoke may be fire.

He was never interim head coach dude. He’s no head coach, but I’d be happy for him if I’m prove wrong.

He was the coach for four games before vitt came back from suspension. And he was a pussy in that timeframe. Dude would let the first half clock run out multiple times instead of trying to get the ball back for our offense.

He is probably a good OC/qb coach, but i think he would be a huge failure as a HC. There is a reason he hasnt gotten a chance to be HC yet

If you’re going to a slander a guy at least have a clue. He was never the interim head coach. I love the people that want to know everything but really no nothing.

Oh, Ian Rapoport, you cut up cartoon character; you are always first with a zaney story about the Saints when they have an impactful game to play.

Stay strong Ian. Looking forward to another breaking story for our playoff game.
