And idiots actually questioned us trading up for Davenport. That was an absolutely genius trade.

I've asked this before but haven't gotten an answer, how long has it been since a Saints rookie had a multiple sack game (Davenport had a 2 sack game prior to his injury if I recall correctly)?

Also an awesome stat

Rankins is 2 sacks away from giving the Saints their first DE/DT combo to produce at least 10 sacks per position since 2000 when Johnson/Glover did it

That’s a bold statement to make. They are 24 points behind 5th, with 3 games against teams that can put up points. Would love to see where this team ranks in point differential on both sides of the ball, I think this would be a better measurement of a team’s scoring/defensive ability.

Point differential stat would be calculated from opposing team’s scoring average to the points the defense actually gave up that game. And that would be season average, not just at the time the game is played.

I don't know if this is exactly what you mean but these are the opponents scoring averages without the Saints games and then what they scored against the Saints.

TB - 24.5 - 48
CLE - 22.8 - 18
ATL - 23.8 - 37
NYG - 24.1 - 18
WAS - 21.2 - 19
BAL - 24.8 - 23
MIN - 21.8 - 20
LAR - 32.5 - 35
CIN - 24.4 - 14
PHI - 22.8 - 7
ATL - 23.8 - 17
DAL - 21.9 - 13
TB - 24.5 - 14

ETA: My count is a cumulative 29.9 under teams scoring average which comes out to opponents on average scoring 2.3 less points than their average per game. If you pick that up starting week 4, it's 61.8 cumulative and 6.18 less than opponents average per game.

Wasn't that the group that also had Norman Hand in it?

The Saints haven't had a defensive line that dominant since.

I believe Saints fans affectionately referred to them as the “Lunch Bunch.”
