One super bowl and 4 straight crushing playoff defeats. Can this man coach the big games? Last 4 games we have played not lose, instead to win and guess what..we lost!

Well he put us in position to win the first 2.
His qb didnt play well the last two years. We lost this one because we went -4 in the turnover battle. If you want to blame that on Sean, go ahead. But it makes you look ignorant

This wasn’t really a crushing defeat. We got straight beat. It happens.

It all turned on one play... I don’t understand how a professional football player who is also a giant cant keep the ball away from a guy half his size

The last two years were different but had the same problem, Brees doesn't have enough zip and they let you be physical on receivers in the playoffs. The windows are tighter, and they get really tight when you're only playing a ten yard game.

In 2018, the refs didn't call the most obvious pass interference you've ever seen. Getting that call, the Saints probably ice that game and go to the Super Bowl.

2017 Saints were just starting to get good, played a good Minnesota team on the road, and had a young DB make a bad play at the worst possible time.

That's a bad bounce, a missed PI we're still bitching about, and then two years where Brees' limitations made us a flawed team despite an excellent roster around him.

Our problem was obvious, but you let a Brees roll out on his own terms and pay him way too much money to sit on his couch for all he's done for this franchise. You're crazy if you think he didn't do a great job this year bringing a half broken noodle armed Brees and a fullback/quarterback hybrid to a 12-4 record, winning a game and hosting a divisional game.

Huh? We gave Tampa the game and basically said "it's too fricking cold in GB", Here you go.

Does it matter? Fact is, Saints won't find a better coach than SP. Almost every team out there would gladly take him off our hands.

Give SP a QB that can threaten every part of the field and you'll see dynamic offense return. If the defense can stay respectable (big if) he'll get us back to the playoffs soon.

The issue here is finding said QB.

We also don’t have receivers that can stretch the field

That's why its so frustrating that Sanders never really took off this season.

If you want to blame Payton/Loomis, its for not getting Brees' successor ready before the past 2 seasons.

This.

And the OP's main point is refuted in this thread.

Payton is a very good coach NOT GREAT.you don`t lose to
Rex Grossman,Case Keenam, Coisins ,ETC ,with a hall of
fame QB in Brees in the playoffs.
Having said that we could do alot worse .At least we are in
the hunt.

You blame Payton from 2010 to 2016. Those were the lost years where Brees was in his prime. Bad defensive play all over. 2017 to 2020 he finally got a defense only for the QB to decline. Dude can never get two and two together. Though 2017 and 2018 can be chaulked up to extremely bad luck. Man if not for 09 this era would be a colossal failure.
