I believe it’s very close and if I were voting it would be Drew. But it’s pretty clear that based on the TDs and yardage Mahomes will get it, even though that has never worked in Drew’s favor. I honestly am not that mad about it though, because now that I think about it Mahomes did not have a 1st team all pro receiver to throw to, and Drew did. Maybe next year.

Stop thinking.... Mahomes “only had” Travis fricking Kelce, Kareem Hunt most of the year, and Tyreek Hill. Poor him

Mahomes gave a game away with 3 INTs and couldn’t come from behind to win another game just 3 hours after Brees came from behind to win, when both needed it to lock up the 1 seed.

But no one will look at those things. For them, stats matter unless it’s Brees.

Also add the fact that their offense has struggled without Hunt. Kinda exposes him a little.

Mahomes had a 1st team tight end and flex guy(who was also 2nd team all pro receiver) Also had hunt who probably would have been second team all pro. You aren't too sharp are ya?

18-28, 127 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

24-31, 201 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

23-35, 203 yards, 0 TD, 1 INT

This 3 game stretch did Brees in as far as the MVP race.

Since Hunt was kicked off the team:

469 yards (295 yards, 4 TD's)
442 yards (against the Ravens, 377 yards, 2 TD's, 1 INT)
294 yards (in a loss, Mahomes still with 245 yards and 2 TD's)
419 yards (273 yards and 3 TD's)
409 yards (281 yards, 2 TD's, 1 INT)

And lets not forget almost every top ranked offense in the league struggled towards the end of the season.

Mahomes will win for one reason only.

You’re delusional. It’s not close. Look at the All Pro voting. Brees barely got any 1st team votes.

5,000 yards? 50 touchdowns? #1 seed?

Which one?

We don't care.

I suspect Drew doesn't care.

Drew is interested in winning another Superbowl.

Drew and Sean both said frick to his consecutive 4,000 yard record.

At this stage in Drew's career, he wants another Superbowl ring.

Give it a rest.

The MVP is a media contrived award.

Please stop with these threads.

Mahomes record against actual good teams is pitiful

Lost to the Pats/Rams/Chargers/Seahawks

That Steelers game will stick in people's memory that Brees lead his team to victory

Mahomes will probably win but it's not clear cut

I could argue all of that along with you, but these awards are rarely about anything but stats, regardless of what the award implies. 2nd year guy, 1st year starter, 5,000 yards and 50 tds, 12-4 with a #1 seed, it started becoming clear who would win this starting with the Dallas game. Yes we were still winning games, but our defense won a few of those for us while Brees struggled by his lofty standards.

So Drew has never won the stat war?

QB turnovers. Drew produced winning ball and did what was necessary for team success.

Yes he has, but I showed in another thread that yards was the only stat he dominated in '11, with Rodgers having a much higher passing rating.

If Drew somehow wins, he will have earned it, no doubt. But the season Mahomes had on the top team of the AFC, you knew it would go that way.

We don't need Drew Brees to win the MVP to know that he is the greatest quarterback ever.

Without Drew Brees, the Saints of the past decade would have been unthinkable.

Dan Marino was named MVP only once (1984).

I'll take Brees.

Oh, and he even has a higher rating; shouldn't that be the variable used to determine the best quarterback?
