We run much less off right tackle and right end than we did last year.

i'm guessing a lot of that was reggie/stinch and since reggie's been hurt that went down.

nicks has started a full season & evans is even better. i belive tim ryan of sirirus said nicks was one of the best guards he had ever seen on tape.

screw keeping then though... lets throw the house at Jammal Brown.

How long has reggie been hurt?

how about a blown Jammal Brown blocking assignment when all Pierre Thomas needed to do was pick up one yard up the gut, only to have a man come off the left edge and tackle him in the backfield?

so you don't think brown is that good but you think his market value is 'worth the house'?

i'd easily take nicks/evans over brown but i want to keep all three.

How's that different from last year?

He's played in more games this year than last.

how many games has he played in from start to finish? i can think of a few games where he has sat out after starting or playing early.

also, bell and pierre have a much more active role in the offense and are best suited as inside runners w/ pierre going to the ends occasionally. our running % to the left is basically the same as last year.

what are you getting at?

That roughly the same percentage of runs go to the left side, while less are going to the right.

This shows no loss of confidence in running off the left side from Brown to Bushrod.

i've said multiple times we are 14-18th off of left tackle in '09, that's not bad but not 2nd in the league either.

And you are saying that this is all Bushrod's fault? If not, what percentage is all Bushrod? And what do you base this on? How many players, including pulling guards and FB are on the side on these runs?

if you want to credit our ranking as 2nd to traps wouldn't we have stayed somewhere close this year? obviously bushrod has played some role in falling from 2nd though he's not that bad off a run blocker. my main contention is pass blocking. if he didn't require as much help as he does and brees to be hit so much then i'd be all on board the Jammal Brown GTFO train. his run blocking is NOT the problem.

I'm surprised this is still going. I think it's undeniable that Brown > Bushrod, but Bushrod and Strief are what we have and it's been good enough to get us to 13-1. Hell, we'd be 14-0 IF Devery hadn't dropped that pass. Or, more Bushrod related, if his help hadn't blown assignments or Payton hadn't forgot to help him, which he took the blame for.

The only real question regarding the LT position is what to do if Brown wants too much money.

if he wants ridiculous money let him go and find a replacement not named streif/bushrod. if we have the means to do so, we need to keep brown.

Saturday's game he got zero help at all.

None.

And against one of the premier pass rushers in the league. I don't think it would have been any different with a healthy Brown. They both have heavy feet and struggle with speed rushers.
