brown is an elite pass blocker and run blocker, if penalties come with that so be it. i'd much rather 7 holding calls than 9 sacks.

I like how he takes "yards behind left tackle" like it's gospel, but ignores holding flags, which Brown led the league in last year.

If you would be listening to this guy, our running game would have been great last year and suck this year.

not to mention "running behind LT" has nothing to do with the performance of how the G or C or TE or FB blocks on that play or the scheme of the defense presented that given play.

it's a great site for football fans.
did you read that we ran only 14% of the time behind Brown?

15% behind Bushrod so far this year.

Therefore Payton agrees. . .Bushrod>Brown.

It's a bogus stat to begin with. The direction of the run is not an indication of the lead blocker. A pulling Guard is just as likely the lead blocker on an off tackle run as is the Tackle himself.

what? if brown is on the line this year our running game is better, not worse. there's never been any indication that bushrod is a superior run blocker.

not to mention Brown was using one of the best running lead blockers in the league, and Bushrod is using a TE as a fullback.

Ignore logic though, anyone who argues on behalf of bushrod is a moron!

Where are you getting the "sacks by" stat from?

our production of the left tackle is down from last season but our sucess up the gut is better. evans, goodwin, and nicks deserve the credit.

"sacks by" is a questionable stat anyway. Stats are often attributed to the wrong blocking assignment. Holding calls are usually not.

anyone who has watched the team this year knows our rushing sucess has mainly come up the gut.

52% of our rushes have been up the gut, it's spread out elsewhere. we're also 3rd in the league going up mid/guard.

that same gut where DE's blew by Jammal Brown off the edge last year to stop Thomas from getting one yard?

That gut?

nicks has started a full season & evans is even better. i belive tim ryan of sirirus said nicks was one of the best guards he had ever seen on tape. payton committing to the run has also helped tremendously.
