How is all of this fitting in the cap? Last I saw Saints were at around $5 million space without the draft picks signed yet.

Not yet. Would expect it is not "signed" until at least after 3pm today so as to not affect our compensatory pick calculation. Underhill said he was told that he would be surprised at how cheap the contract will be. I am sure it will include a voidable year to reduce the cap hit. Maybe something like $6 million but only a $3 cap hit due to the voidable year.

Which makes me think Sean has promised him something long term once Brees is gone.

Id also like to know what he turned down from Pittsburgh as well.

I understand why he wants to come here but he'd be crazy to give up a ton of money just for 1 year. But i dont know, maybe he just see us as a rehab facility for QB careers. I dont hate it if thats what we plan on doing at the backup spot for the foreseeable future. Its better than having old guys who are past their prime or never really that good to begin with.

Maybe the Saints are fixing to move on from Larry Warford.

Watford & Easton are both candidates to create cap space. Mario Edwards as well. I like him, but we're loaded on the DL.

I would’ve hoped they put in a team option for year 2. I doubt famous would’ve gone for that.

Teddy’s was 1yr/$7.5M guaranteed but worth up to $12M in incentives, but I’m not sure what exact cap hit was. Doubt we get Winston for anything less than that.

He’s made $46 million already.... he’s clearly taking this job for the experience and knowledge so I doubt $ is even a factor for him

wont know that until after he signs and i think they have another day or two to go before that so we dont lose the 3rd rounder compensatory pick for teddy leaving

Whatever he gets, part of the contract will be expenses for defense attorneys as he sexually assaults the women of NOLA.

they say he agreed to less money to come here instead of taking what the steelers were offering but no one is saying what that offer was

one thing for sure, its not $3 million, hell i think even practice squad guys make better then that

i would expect it to be somewhere around the mid teens in millions

I do not think it will that high if it is a one year deal as reported. I would expect, at max, it is closer to 10 million. I would not be surprised if it isn’t a 2 year deal that is really a stretch one year deal, so the number looks bigger than what it actually is and it would allow us to see what we have in Winston and Taysom before making a longer commitment to both or either.

Zero clue what Winston's getting, but as of 2-3 years ago ps guys were making $6000 a week ($102k a year if they stayed all 17 weeks).

Even with the new cba I HIGHLY doubt they are even hitting half a mil over 17 weeks.
