I’m watching a re play of the Christmas Day game where he scores 6 TD’s, and can’t help to think he’ll be better with Winston at QB than Brees. Minny D is playing close to the line and still can’t contain him. They can’t keep their LB’s and safeties up close to the line of scrimmage with Winston at QB because he has the arm talent to beat them deep. Screens and runs should work better this year and Kamara will be an MVP candidate. I say Kamara has 20 more TD’s this season and will be an MVP finalist.

I will miss Brees, but his arm has held back our offense since 2018

He will always be the GOAT for us, but I think him retiring will benefit us in the long run, and maybe even in the short run. I just don’t think losing him this year will be detrimental to the Saints. Today’s NFL needs a QB with arm strength and mobility. The 2 most lacking traits from Drew.

2018, we win it all like we should have and Brees retires on top.

Agreed. He shouldn’t have even had to play in ‘19 and ‘20. But he did……unsuccessfully.

Except he was still a top-10 QB in 19 and 20.

It was just a drop off from 1-3 to 6-9 out of 32.

It takes more than arm talent, you gotta be smart and if the defense don't respect Winston decision making it won't make a difference. His last full season he don't have a good track record

I think he had enough left to win in 19. If we don’t get screwed against the Rams I think we could have beat the Patriots. After that teams figured us out and we were too limited

If the damn tight-end would not have fumbled, who knows?

Man, when we took the lead then forced a quick punt I thought we had that game in the bag. Then Cook decides to fumble the frickin ball

The sad thing is that ensuing drive by Tampa only tied the game. After that point Drew Brees laid an absolute egg.

3-9 19 yards, 2 INTs on the last 3 possessions.

His arm has held us back since game 13 of 2018:

FIFY

Saints were on an insane ALL TIME great (as in by far the greatest ever) tear in terms of offensive efficiency and points per possession. If his arm hadn’t started its annual end of season decline until 2019, we’d have WALTZED to another Super Bowl win in dominating fashion. I know the refs fricked us with the NOLA no-call, but there wouldn’t have been room for the refs to influence games at all.

I think Winston will be good but there are many more layers to this than simply arm talent. You are severely discouting what Brees does to a defense

1/4 players in NFL history with 80+ receptions in their first four year (including WRs)

1/3 RBs with at least 50 receptions in each of their first four seasons

Only player in NFL history with 500 yards receiving and rushing in their first four seasons

Most receptions by a RB in their first fours seasons in NFL history

Most reeiving yards by a RB in their first four seasons

First player in NFL history with 40+ rush TD and 15+ receving TD in their first four seasons

He should have retired a year ago, and we would have had us another SB with Brady.

Wouldn’t even want a cheap Brady Super Bowl to be honest. Rather run with our guys or with a guy you can build on towards the future

Exactly what was cheap about Tampa’s SB?

I agree. Winston is not the answer. I have no confidence in Winston. I have every reason to believe that he will throw the most costly interception at the worst possible time. I don't think we'll do anything with him at QB. I'm not sold on Hill, either. I don't know anything about Book as an NFL QB but i have to believe that the heir to the thrown is not on the roster right now.

Not so fast.

Tom Brady says hello.

And let’s not forget injuries.

Zack Prescott says hello.

I can see your point but I can also see the other extreme. Brees didn't trust his arm pushing the ball down the field so he would dump it off to Kamara giving him a lot more targets. The exact opposite happened when Brees was hurt, Hill would take off running himself or Winston would chunk it anyway leaving Kamara with fewer targets.

So you are saying that Tom Brady won't cut it in today's NFL.
