I know that people are all concerned about not having a true number 2 receiver. I understand this has to do more with matchups as oppose to performance.

Brees hit 9 different receivers for over 300 yards...As they say you only play with one ball.

This is true, but it is about consistency and the ability to stretch the field or open up things for 13 and 41.

When Thomas is targeted, I expect him to catch it. Can you truly say that about any other receiver or tight end on the team currently?

Everyone is thinking like early Brees era saints teams that needed to light up the scoreboard. Yea it would be great to have 3 all pro receivers but the truth is we have

Thomas
Ginn
Smith
Cook
Hill
Kamara
Murray

That’s a lot of weapons when you have a defense like we do. And that’s the key. WE HAVE A DEFENSE. We will be fine with what we have when everyone gets healthy.

Funny thing is that other teams basically have to throw out all the tape from the first half of the season

Its clear that Payton wants to use Taysom as a receiver more this year, but couldn't do it while he was backup QB

I’m curious to see how Taysom does when he’s not wide arse open. Really see what kind of hands he has.

Brees completed almost 80% of his passes and was able to find 8 different guys to catch the ball other than Thomas. So i would say yes.

Just because a guy is on the roster doesn’t make him a weapon. I’m just skeptical he’s going to turn it on in half a season and in the playoffs when DBs are allowed to be more physical.

Against maybe the worst passing defense in the nfl...in October.

Brees does that against top 10 defenses too... there's a reason the guy is going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Wearing a splint with no clear #2 receiver and his favorite target out of the backfield not playing.

I can understand it. I would love to see a better/consistent WR lined up across from Mike. The players available and the prices reportedly asked for were not realistic. I am all for "win now", but not at the cost of of the ability to get our QB of the future in the draft.

I do not agree with the "what if" panic. If Thomas gets hurt, no one is going to replace what we lost. When Drew got hurt, Teddy wasn't a Drew replacement, he was a good back-up QB. When Kamara was hurt, Murray didn't replace him. You can't replace those players. Payton will scheme his arse off and do everything possible to negate the loss. It is what great coaches do.

In no way am I knocking Brees. I am saying that come January all these guys who are finding open space are going to struggle a lot more against legitimate defenses and we’re going to be back to nearly complete reliance on MT again.

they keep trying and trying to make ginn a #2 but he just isnt cutting it, he is only good for 5-7 plays a game where he gets forgotten about and they have a protection breakdown, thats the few times he gets open

this coaching staff is happy with kamara and hill as our #2 and #3 receivers and when we face truly good teams we will struggle badly because of it just like last year

I kinda like the way Sean has given more offensive snaps to Deonte Harris. When he can hold onto the ball, he brings an exciting dimension to our offensive scheme.

The Bears defense is about as legit as you can get in the league right now.

I get that things are more intense in the playoffs but this team's depth has been tested early and here they are sitting on top their division with one loss.
