Sheldon Rankins DT

Rankins, the 12th pick of the 2016 draft, missed a chunk of his rookie season with a broken fibula he suffered during a preseason practice. He still managed to collect four sacks in nine games played, though. In 2017, Rankins started every game, showing good consistency and disruptiveness, but recorded very modest production with 26 total tackles and two sacks. Rankins is in position for a classic Year Three jump based upon his talent, consistency, and experience at the position. This should be the year where we see Rankins come into his own against both the run and pass. A season with 50 tackles and six or more sacks is attainable. If first-round pick Marcus Davenport, an edge rusher, can get out of the blocks quickly, that should help Rankins and the Saints’ defense even more.

Hey I'm in!
If the rotationAL guys next to him can continue to improve he may get close to such numbers.
Would mean our D-line is filthy.

Man I hope so. Our Dline has the potential to be very very good if he takes that next step.

All 3 of our main DTs were solid last season

At their age and with an improved supporting cast across all levels no reason to believe they cant grow into even more entering their primes.

Double team Cam because he's Cam. Then if Davenport is simply better than average, it's gonna get real ugly real quick for opposing offenses. Saints have good Lbs, and a very good secondary. 60 team sacks isn't outside the realm of possibility this year.

This piece helping that piece get good to make this unit help that unit look good will magnify and potentially the whole D will be sick.

Cam Jordan doing can Jordan just things should free our first pick to impact the other side. That should force QB’s up or running backs into the waiting arms of our solid DL interior. Once this starts happening with any consistency, that should force sacks and some bad throws for incompletions and interceptions, thus making our already talented and young secondary look that much better.

That of course helps our offense the little but it always needed.
